RE: Overcoming Camera Shyness

in #advice6 years ago

T^T It didn't load for me! I will be back for it C:

Long time no see @puddinpaws! I think that we're moving further away from privacy towards transparency, and I mean a lot more than cryptocurrency. Anyone that meets me in person or sees me on video thinks I'm extroverted.

I am very camera shy.

I want to know how to get slightly less butterflies and how to focus better for Vlogging. I know that editing exists, but the less editing, the faster to produce content! Keep that energy flowing!

Shello

Sorry for the crazy late reply!

Overcoming camera shyness begins with practice. It's no different than getting comfortable performing on stage for a crowd.

First you just get a mirror and start practicing speaking about a topic you love. Then start recording yourself (obviously you don't post anything you aren't comfortable with). Start just speaking on camera for one minute and gradually speaking at length adding an extra min each time.

Then, playback the video... but resist the temptation to pick a part all of you various ticks. The playback is more for you to get used hearing what you sound like because EVERYBODY hates their own voice.

It's a mechanical thing, your brain is used to interpreting the sound of your voice from inside the body projecting away from it--as opposed to being projected externally back at the ears. See? Not to crazy.

No worry beef curry!~

Ah, so it starts with me being the audience. For some reason, I thought the best way was to start with a small audience—but how much smaller can it get than just yourself!

I want to invest in a better webcam or video cam to properly record myself as well. Gotta put all that practice to work. Other than my "personal ticks", I've gotten used to hearing my own voice. So that's one down :D

The goal is to reach the point where I no longer care there is a camera around, but I'm not rambling into an abyss xD

That's why I leave myself small notes on index card or on notebook paper. Sometimes I stop the camera in between thoughts to stay on point.

LMAO I did exactly that for a Steemit video contest a while back. I definitely didn't want to forget what I was gonna say! x3
