Inside The Mystery Castle

in #adventure7 years ago

Antique glass bottles that decorate the windowsill of a guest bedroom in the Mystery Castle, this room I am about to show you is one of my favorites. It is partially underground so it is cool in the summer and warm in the winter. It has a hide-a-bed that is on wheels. This guest room is made with railroad ties, telephone poles and the roof is made from the side of a box car. The entire guest room was built around a saguaro cactus and all that remains is its skeleton.

Its safe to say that Mary had very interesting taste in decor. I especially like the work her father did, the entire property is littered with quartz, chrysocolla and other great gems! The inside was all decorated by Mary Lou and features all kinds of beautiful antiques!

Below this painting is the castles main fireplace, Boyce built the castle around this fire place that he started building in the 1930s after squatting on the land.

The kitchen and dinning room is just high enough that you can see the city of Phoenix while visiting. It is like stepping into another timezone. Sometimes I would like to have my own Mystery Castle. If you think about it, it is like antique earthship!

I think Mary had excellent taste in art, Frida and Diego works are everywhere in the castle

Lastly Mary's hero, a photo of John Wayne above a steer skull. There is so much to share about this great Castle, this is just the inside. My last post was an introduction to the castle and my next post will go into detail about the rocks Boyce used and the architecture. Thank you for reading!
