My Favorite Adventure Documentaries

in #adventure7 years ago (edited)

I have a serious Adventure Documentary addiction. I'm going to share a few of my favorites.

1. Touching the Void (8.1 on IMDB)

Two friends set out to climb Siula Grande in the Peruvian Andes in 1985 when everything goes wrong.

If it weren't for the interspersed interviews with the two men, you would swear there is no way they made it out alive. I cannot recommend this highly enough.

2. Chasing Bubbles (9.0 on IMDB)

A young stock trader in Chicago is flush with cash but disillusioned with the modern rat race. So he buys a sailboat and sets off to sail around the world, slowly. It's a heart warming story.

3. SV Delos (YouTube)

In the same vein as Chasing Bubbles, SV Delos covers a a group of people sailing around the world.

7 years ago, Brian, bored with his life, buys a sailboat and sets off sailing.

He starts off from Seattle where he travels down the western US. Then to Mexico where his brother joins the crew for the Pacific crossing. They island hop to Australia where they have to stop to work and save money for the rest of the journey.

By the time they leave Australia, they have even picked up some beautiful ladies and started taking their YouTube channel much more serious. Once they leave Australia, the production quality goes way up.

From there, they go to the Philippines, India, Madagascar, South Africa, Brazil, and they are still going. It is likely they will be the first people to circumnavigate the earth and document it on YouTube.

SV Delos is easily my favorite thing on YouTube.
