FEIC 2017 - Part One: Getting There
I do think it is odd that it would be the Flat Earth International Conference motivating me to become involved with the ‘Alternative Circuit’ Full Force so to speak.
🔊 Shout out to our Full Force Thursdays with Crimson, awesome show! 😍
Being a part of a moment in history, feeling like my energy could be useful in the ripple that might take affect throughout the multi verse because this many people got together under this mindset and with holding the image of a positive outcome, collectively.
Together.
There were so many amazing people; open and energetic and engaged, I was supremely lucky to make the acquaintance of such fantastically conscious and compelling individuals…
Thank you Thank You Thank YOU!
To each and every person I engaged with during those crazy days in North Carolina.
Tuesday:
My father picked me up in the early hours of the day, some I rarely see unless it’s from the night before having not yet closed my eyes. I caught a short nap before it was time to go, bed still a mess of stuffing from the newly purchased luggage and covers sorted just enough to drape haphazardly around my already buzzing body; my excitement, my anxiety merely hovering at the point of fruition.
Being the third person on my side of the district voting for our City Counsel I promptly shaded the boxes, turning in my slip and headed back out to face the expressway to the airport.
Driving with my Dad, it explains a lot of my road rage. Simply put. But after a short snafu at the on cycle for early morning commutes we reached the area around the airport in enough time to stop for coffee at a nearby McDonalds. There was a lady there campaigning for her own district that bought our coffees. I thank you Madame and I hope you won!
The TSA process, something I haven’t done with So much baggage in … EVER. So a few lessons learned there for easy of travel in future. Still some time to kill before take off.
I texted family, I heard back from the doctor’s office where I had hoped to procure a chill pill for the flight, but here I was already checked in and waiting, so what was there to be anxious about?
I didn’t realize until late Thursday that the car I had rented came with one of those handy-dandy back up video feeds. Maybe this was why so many townspeople honked at me those first few days.
Not knowing proper procedure for U-turns without embankments between was a bit tricky as well, and yet! ‘Bless their hearts!’ aren’t these North Carolinians still super polite? Barely tapping their horns… “Ahem, pardon… but you almost caused an accident sug-“
Yup, I love NC.
Rewind back to the ‘layover’ really just enough time to catch the shuttle at Dulles between terminals and get to the next stop of this adventure. Both Going To planes were little guys, not enough room for the overhead to go, well, overhead and so they had to be stowed in cargo. Since a majority of my recording equipment was in said bag I couldn’t really complain. Another lesson learned, what I did and did Not need to bring along.
Thank Goodness for GPS... seriously.
I made a stop at a local smoke shop, very cool, because you can't have lighters on planes and I had already granted myself permission to smoke during the trip. After letting my map reset to find the correct bearings I landed at the Super 8 Motel in Durham... but not for long.
Did you know the roads in North Carolina can have a few names? I had no idea how confusing it would be driving in another state. It makes me grateful to have decided to fly there instead of trekking the 12 hour drive.
An aside: Just trying to get this short video to upload on YouTube & then share in this post, I am assuming it will be embeddable, but we all know what assuming does!
Tech help always appreciated!
