What is Gintama? It’s a common question to the typical anime watcher. With a anime series that now has a champions belt of 355 episodes so far and still growing. Many wonder what this show full of sarcasm and satire featuring a lazy, silver-haired protagonist followed by his two young employees and an overgrown dog is all about and what’s their plot. gintama_125-00.jpg
Gintama the show starts off as a clear-cut comedy with mostly jokes and pop-culture references here and there with an occasional fourth-wall breaking self-awareness sprinkled in. Now it’s not all jokes…like Gintama has a plot but what that plot is would be very hard to explain. The actual plot starts off at around episode 150 and many of you readers are wondering why would I watch 150 episodes of comedy when I could just skip 150 episodes, save a lot of my time, and enjoy the actual show? Great points but don’t actually skip those 150 episodes and I’ll explain why you should actually watch episode 1-355+. index.jpg
Episodes 1-149 may be seeming like a waste of time with endless filler and yes, I won’t lie I wanted to skip these pointless episodes every now and then but I for some reason was never able to skip it. I always wanted to know what the next great scenario that are characters are dragged into even though I knew this episode didn’t impact the overall story at all. Then it hit me after watching a hilarious episode about a “hard-boiled” detective try and capture a thief that these episodes DID make sense and that they DID impact the storyline. What may seem like pointless filler is far from the truth if you want to truly love this great show you MUST watch all 355+ episodes to fully understand and connect to this show. character-development.jpg Every so often in these comedy episodes you’ll realize that not only are constant important re-occurring characters keep popping up but that all the characters in general are going through small character development after every few episodes. You also start to really grow attached to the characters and start to realize their personality. You grow with these people and start love Gin’s lazy personality or how Kondo Isao accepted being called a gorilla all the time. My point is it’s worth it; these aren’t poorly made episodes made just to be made these are episodes that you can tell have effort and love put into these animations. These episodes will keep you very entertained and craving more gut-bursting humor in the next episode. 739.jpg
I wish I could tell you the plot but it’s hard to explain if you’re trying to avoid spoilers and that’s exactly what I’m trying to do. If you want to spoil it for yourself that’s up to you and if you want to binge watch every episode spoil free that’s also up to you. The show is amazing and should be enjoyed by all audiences young and old. I really enjoy this show if I’m feeling down it’ll instantly make me laugh, if I’m feeling philosophical it’ll give me deep, hard to answer morality questions that I ponder to my sleep, if I’m feeling like I want to give up Gin shows me that you should never give in, etc. Yes, I love this show and of course I give it a 10/10 in terms of originality and fun so don’t be intimidated by its large episode count or be dismayed by “no-plot” jokes because it’s truly a work of art that you should at least trymaxresdefault.jpg
So that’s my review of Gintama which is avaible on most streaming services I personally watch it on the app Crunchyroll, but it’s available online everywhere. I like anime, Attack on titans so far is my top.

I don't know man, 150 episodes is a lot of investment time.

I understand what you mean and I don't intend for most people to just binge watch the entire thing I'm saying it's a great show to just sprinkle in when you have free time and want a laugh and then when you break that 150 episode wall then you can watch more seriously
