Meet the last iceman of the Chimborazo
I was welcomed to the city's museum in Guano Chimborazo by Baltazar Ushca, the last "Iceman" of the Chimborazo! He is indeed an example of hard work.
At age 15 he learned from his father the art of ice-minding. For him this was a task that combines physical and spiritual work. Baltazar would ask permission and protection from the volcano before starting his work removing ice.
If you stop in Guano, visit the city's museum for a chance to meet him and learn more about Chimborazo and meet Baltazar Ushca.
