Topic: Irrigation Problem

1. Facts
   The fact is that the local farmers do not know about proper irrigation methods. They use local methods for irrigation purpose. They use sewerage water for irrigation without treatment which has many toxic materials in it. Many farmers use methods in which water loss in large amount. They don’t apply water according to proper time.
2. Analysis of Situation
   The analysis shows that the use of sewerage water which contains many toxic materials can harm us dangerously.
   The use of large amount of water for irrigation purpose in flood irrigation waste water in large scale.
   The application of water is not according to the proper time.
3. Identification of Problems
   This is identifying that there are many problems resulted by the above situation. As it is given below:
   i) The crops produced by the sewerage water contain heavy metals e.g. lead, zinc, iron etc. which cause diseases in humans as well as animals.
   ii) The flood irrigation methods cause wastage of water and it flow many important nutrients of upper layer of soil from one side to other side.
   iii) The late application of water to the crop causes many problems in the yield.

1. Objectives and Goals
   i) To aware the farmers for some diseases caused by unfiltered sewerage water.
   ii) To aware the farmers with the methods which apply useful amount of water for irrigation.
   iii) To aware the farmers about proper time of application of irrigation.
   iv) To manage a farm field school for proper awareness of above objectives.

2. Development of work & Calendar Operations
   To develop the work according to the plan gathers the farmers at particular place to complete objectives.
   For Farmers, Farmer field school is set by the AO of that Tehsil at the time of sowing.
   Date Operation
   10 Nov. Which methods used for irrigation for less water loss.
   20 Nov. To avoid to use sewage water for irrigation.
   30 Nov. Tell about the proper time of irrigation and implements for that crop.

3. Implementation
   Perform work according to calendar and try to aware all the farmers about irrigation methods i.e
   i. Arrange meating with farmers to seek knowledge about irrigation methods
   ii. Try completely to aware all the farmers.
   iii. Provide knowledge as possible as which the farmer need.

4. Evaluation
   In this, we do formative evaluation first by this way:
   • Ask farmers after FFS and classes according to calendar that what they experienced or gain from this training and planning.
   Now we do the submative evaluation by the following steps:
   • Check progress in fields by AO that what the farmers do now after educating the principles of irrigation.
   • Check what the variation in yield is now how much profit we gained now.

5. Reconsideration

Recheck the facts and analysis of the situation and found that if we want to improve the plan then we should arrange meetings according to the availability of the farmers and appoint the extensionist who convinced the farmers for that irrigation methods that are providing or suitable for us.
