We might be used to some traditions like christmas and new year celebrations, but in some parts of the world, there are certain traditions and cultures that seems strange and awkward for people not from these areas.
So here is a run down of 5 crazy traditions from around the world.
- Cutting of ones for LOVE finger by Dani tribe
Dani tribe inhabits the lowlands and valleys of New Guinea, not too far from papau. People of this tribe cut of their fingers as a sign of love, also displaying grief to dead loved ones. When a person in this tribe dies, his wife, mother, husband or friend cut of one or more of his fingers and bury them alongside the dead as a sign of love.
Body whipping with whips that has blades and Knifes.
The religious sect of Shia Islam living in parts of Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, Lebanon and Nigeria usually observe a festival to mark the anniversary of the battle of Karbala when Iman Hussein ibn ali(R.A) was killed. On the tenth day, some members of the sect flog themselves with chains, these chains are usually attached with razors and knifes. These is practiced by both adults and children.Kneeling and lying prostrate as a form of greeting.
Among the Yoruba people in western Nigeria, Greeting of Elders is an excersise that is usually taken with all seriousness, When a Yoruba youth approaches an adult, Females are expected to drop to their Knees while males are expected to lie prostrate as a sign of respect. This custom is one unique custom which does not look like fading away anytime soon.
Bizzare burial Ritual
Among the Yanomami tribe of Brazil and part of Venezuela, Dead relatives are often burned, the ash and bone powder are then grounded and mix into a plantain soup to be taken by the relatives of the deceased. This means that the deceased are often living among the relatives alive, albeit in their stomachs or toilets !!!

Among the fulani people of NIgeria, Niger and Sudan, Potential grooms are usually tied to a pole and flogged. The groom is not expected to cry or show an sign of pain, THis is just to check if he is man enough and can handle the rigours of marriage Life. This is called the Shiroro
