There was more to her story than her possible mental illness. I am still not convinced she was schizophrenic the way they say. Her mother was very controlling and I imagine she was rebelling to a large extent (certainly not in healthy ways). Her mother played a huge role in her lobotomy from my understanding. She was a local star in Indiana at the end of her career where I grew up. If you want a different take on her this is a great movie to watch.
