Denshaw Reservoirs
Having two active dogs, a weekly task is to find somewhere new to walk at the weekend to spice things up from the local weekday ones. Having lived here for a few years now we have done all of the best walks within an hours drive, so it's usually a case of deciding which one we like that we haven't done for a while. This weekend we chose a recurring favourite, a walk around the reservoirs near Denshaw in the Peak District.
The walk begins on a road alongside the reservoir. The res is on our left, and there are some woods to our right. The trees are fully bare now winter has set in. The trunks are covered in moss making it appear like the grass is growing up from the ground and encompassing the trees.
In the next field along a sheep is munching on the long grass very close to the fence. I lean over to take a photo and he looks over at me, not afraid at all! After a brief glance he goes back to his endless dinner. Quite a photogenic sheep this one!
Due to his leg issues Ted is no longer allowed off lead for long periods as running really aggravates his condition. As a result he can get quite cold so we have recently purchased some different coats for him. This is his favourite, the Equafleece in blaze orange color. It's very fluffy and water runs straight off it - a great buy!
I capture Isaac just as he bounds over to play ball.
Half way around we're now walking along the high path that gives a larger overall circular route. As usual Ted takes a moment to admire the views. We all sit here for a while to eat our lunch and have a cup of tea. The sun begins to set as we put our gear back in the bag and move on.
As we come down the high path back to the car we get a view of Manchester. It looked a lot closer in person. I needed a different lens with me to capture this better, but it still looks cool :)
Back at the car the sun breaks through the cloud momentarily giving this lovely feel to the landscape. Another great walk around the Denshaw res' we set off back home. The boys are knackered and everyone is content. It's great to live around the Peak District and to have some active dogs that get you out walking every weekend.
