My Actifit Report Card: May 8 2019
I rode my ebike all the way to my favorite technical disc golf course today. It was around a 24 mile round trip. I played nine baskets there but it was getting towards lunch time and so I didn't finish all eighteen baskets.
The weather was really nice but already feeling a little hot by the time I got to the course.
Here's an interesting looking abandoned building that I went over to take a closer look at:
As I looked it over I noticed something interesting sitting down in the rubble:
It was a disc golf disc that someone had lost but it was in a rather difficult area. I went around the front side of the building and went inside.
There were a lot of loose boards inside and I was thinking I should be careful not step on a nail. Just after I thought about this I felt a nail go through my shoe. I was walking very carefully so it did not go into my foot. It surprised me because I did not see it all (but I wasn't wearing my glasses and I'm a bit near sighted).
The place was pretty interesting to explore and I got a nice disc in GStar plastic. Someone had been playing catch with a dog with it though. There was a bite mark in it but it was largely cosmetic. I tried throwing the disc and it flew very nicely. This kind of plastic is a premium grade that I like a lot. It holds up better than the cheaper plastics but it doesn't do to well against dog teeth.
On the same course I scored a birdie (two throws) landing a drive in the middle of an island area surrounded by an out of bounds area. The closer disc below is where the throw landed:
On the way to the island in bounds area I noted another disc that someone had lost in the out of bounds grass. The grass has been growing taller this time at this time but this disc was pretty easy to spot.
So I ended up with two discs. Neither of them had any contact information on them so I've added them to my collection.
I have not lost a disc myself for a while since I got the Tobu disc with a tracker on it. It is a nice control driver that I can find pretty easily. (It is actually this disc I scored the birdie with.)
When I got home I mowed the lawn and did some yard work.
I think I over did it a bit today my legs were cramping just a bit earlier. They feel fine now however.
I am really enjoying the ebike, you can go haul more gear and weight and still get up the hills without stressing as much.
Thanks for reading! I always value your support and comments. The pictures were taken by me with my Galaxy S9+. Text and graphics copyright lightsplasher & litesplasher.
Sounds like the ebike was exactly what you needed! Oh wow that was a close one with the nail! That can be a really nasty injury that take a long time to hear so Ive been told. Sounds like it was a lucky day!!! :)
It was a lucky day! I'm glad that I was not stomping around in there.
It is a nice find @lightsplasher :D Two disc golf in one journey.
I wonder if you can sell them as a second hand :P
I am happy too that you are enjoying your ebike as well.
Thank you! I'm very happy with it. There are some places that you can buy and sell second hand discs so that is an idea. I don't have that big a collection yet so I'm looking forward to trying them out some and seeing how they fly. They are all a bit different in the way they fly.
I could also give them away or let people use them who are just getting started. Plus I do throw some difficult shots sometimes where I might get them lost. It is nice to have some extras.
For that distance riding the ebike was a good thing I am sure, not sure if I could ride a regular bike that far these days
glad the nail didnt go into yourr foot and obviously your more observant than the people that lost those discs
I used to ride a bike a lot and had a 34 mile round trip commute that I did several times a week. The ebike would have been just perfect for that were it available at the time.
I've kind of slowed down a bit but it feels nice to get back into riding a bike. I think you would have fun if you tried it.
I used to ride a lot in my teens and 20s even did a few triathlons but started working out of NZ and traveling and moving a lot in my 30s and have never got back into it may be something I get into again when I retire
That was good exercise you got on your commute
I thought about doing a triathlon once but I ended up messing up my knee training for a 10K. It looks like fun but not possible or at least wise for me to try to do now.
Triathlons are hard I used to ride swim and also had done quite a few marathons so I did my first triathlon spur If the moment did fairly well in the swim then it went downhill from there I had never trained get my body used to the transition from one leg to the next finished it but it was a good lesson and I had to train and do a couple more just fir my own piece of mind
But yes it’s not possible for me to do them now just thinking about it makes me ache 😂
Score on the find. Isn't it odd that you were warned, before you stepped on that nail. Phew. Congrat on the birdie. Epsom salts are always good for leg cramps, that and a nap:)
It is odd that I was warned, yet that seems to happen somewhat frequently. I've learned to try to trust my intuitions and pay some attention to things as they unfold. (Sometimes I don't always do this though when I get reactive)
I am getting better at listening to that little voice in my head that says ... yeah, don't do that or let it lie." But sometimes ... lol
@lightsplasher, Hope that you are having amazing travel time with your E-bike. And after going through from your post i want to say that you have a specific relation with Disc. 😁

Good one and I will really love to have a ride using your ebike someday
They are a lot of fun, maybe you can get one.
I'm glad the ebike is working out well for you! Now you easily get to those courses that are farther away. I was looking at our course while we were out walking today. Those tees are a LONG way from the basket. I don't know I could throw a baseball that far, let alone one of those discs. We are still thinking about it though. Great activity for the day!
I hope you do try it out. It is easier than you think to get started throwing the discs for a long way. There are good resources on Youtube for learning how to throw and the different types of discs. It is really about timing and technique and less about strength or conditioning. Trying to throw it really hard doesn't get the best results sometimes.
I'll have to watch some of those videos. You can learn anything on Youtube, lol!
