My Actifit Report Card: November 23 2019
Working on a very short apocalyptic story. Been hard to find words. Playing with language and voice, since it’s the end of the world after all. Doing what I want, dangnabit, rather than what would be conventional.
Also trying to work more on imagery, especially felt/found experiences. I have the disadvantage of being highly analytical and engaging in a more symbolic than experiential way with the world; I don’t really think about things as events so much as things as concepts, if that makes sense.
Between that and not having a strong ability to create mental images, I often leave out a lot of things that I think come naturally to some other writers. Of course, it could also just be that I’ve never cultivated those things in a coherent and consistent manner.
In any case, been kind of a slow week for me, lots of little things without any big things.
