When the kingdom of Aceh triumphed in his time, the 16th century, the cuisine known as Kuah Pliek-U is a royal food consumed by kings.

This curry consists of a mixture of various types of vegetables plus "pliek-u" and salted fish head as flavoring. "Pliek-u" or also called patarana is leftover or pulp of copra (coconut) which oil has been squeezed. People in rural Aceh, indeed use coconut oil for cooking. Coconut oil is obtained by squeezing the coconut and the coconut pulp is used as a cooking spice called Pliek-U which has been through the process of fermentation and drying.

This coconut preparation produces cooking oil called "minyeuk reutik." The coconut husk is not thrown away, but it is dried again so that it becomes "pliek-u" which is slowly black. Pliek-u emits a distinctive coconut oil scent. In the Acehnese tradition, "pliek-u" becomes one of the flavoring spices to process vegetables into pliek-u curry.

This curry consists of various vegetables ranging from young jackfruit, leaves melinjo plus young melinjo fruit, long beans, green eggplant, cassava leaves, young papaya, young corn and fruit squash. Complete seasoning consists of pliek-u, cilantro, red pepper, cayenne, onion, garlic, ginger, turmeric, coconut roasted (gongseng), pepper and sunti (starfruit). And to add delicious taste can be mixed with salted fish. Usually the head of the fish becomes an option to be incorporated into the curry / Pliek-U sauce.

All vegetables are chopped and boiled until soft. Then put the seasoning that has been milled except the salted fish head in the vegetables. Let the spices are absorbed by the vegetables and then added coconut milk (which is not too thick), then cook to boil it.
