10 Places of Interest in the Mandatory of Aceh.
- Baiturrahman Great Mosque
The mosque built by Sultan Iskandar Muda in 1612 has become an icon of Aceh. The main building of the mosque is white with a large black dome surrounded by seven towers. The impression is more pronounced with the existence of a large pool and a water fountain at the front of the mosque that reminiscent of the Taj Mahal in India.
This mosque became a religious tourism place in Aceh which is visited for its beauty. The Huffington Post site includes the Baiturrahman Great Mosque in the list of 100 most beautiful mosques in the world, even Yahoo! called this mosque as one of the 10 most beautiful mosques in the world. This is of course increasingly making people proud of Aceh and Indonesia.
If you want to buy a souvenir, you can come to Pasar Aceh located behind the mosque. Once satisfied around, you can travel culinary because there are many food vendors in this market.
- Blang Kolam Waterfall
This one natural tourist place is a pity to miss. Blang Pond Waterfall is located in Sidomulyo Village, North Aceh and can be reached within 30 minutes from Lhokseumawe.
Here, you can see twin waterfalls with a height of 75 meters surrounded by shady trees. Around the waterfall, there are many people who play water, soak in a pool of waterfalls or just relax on the edge. If you want to experience a different experience, try to come with your camping equipment. In Blang Pond Waterfall, you can camp and enjoy the wild at a rate of 5,000 Rupiah per person.
- Tsunami Museum
The tsunami that once hit Aceh in 2004 left grief for Acehnese survivors. To commemorate and honor the victim's death, a Tsunami Museum was built at Sultan Iskandar Muda Street in 2009.
Inside the museum, there is a long corridor with the sound of waves and running water that will remind you of the great disaster. Tourist attractions in Aceh is visited by many tourists who want to see what is left of the tsunami waves. Many of the remains of the disaster were displayed like a bicycle belonging to the victim. In addition to the remnants of the tsunami, there are photos of the dead and testimonies of survivors as well as electronic earthquake simulation tools.
The museum was built as an educational center and a refuge if the tsunami came back. The museum is open daily except Friday from 10:00 to 17:00
