What is a DEBTOR???
When businesses sell goods on credit, these customers are called debtors because the business will collect outstanding payments from these customers in the future. When selling inventory on credit, this gives rise to a transaction relating to theDEBTOR.....a Debtor is classified as an Asset because it meets the accounting definition. Debtors are often grouped into a larger classification group called Trade Receivables.
