The Academy just announced new guidelines for being nominated for Best Picture.

So, I've gotta press on this issue.

How is it progressive to have any criteria for wild success in the industry that requires employers to ask employees about their sexual preferences?

Of course, denying Richard Chamberlain roles because he was gay in real life wasn't progressive. Now, the academy is asking these questions of below the line workers. Are you really gonna try to tell me that it's progressive if I go into an interview for a cinematographer job, and to comply with the Academy, the director and producers need to ask me who I like to have sex with -- and probably verify it in some way.

Also, how are they defining "underrepresented"? They used that word repeatedly. "Minority" would be a word that makes sense; but, if you're in a minority that only accounts for one to five percent of the population, and all we ever do is talk about your community, how can you claim to be underrepresented?
