You are doing a good thing, working to right some of the imbalances of this place. It's sad there is so much greed in the world, and that Steemit (just my impression) seems to have been misappropriated from its initial vision and intent.
I wish we had more focus on pay-it-forward and the possibility of having a gift economy.

Just out of interest how much is in the reward pool during the period covered in the report, @fulltimegeek?
Breaking it down to the percentage of the reward pool which is allocated may give individual rewards more context.
We don't seem to see any $15k USD posts, like Jeff Berwick's introduction post, anymore. Did you flag that one or was it before your time? It was the mention of it on YouTube which brought me to steem.
Something seems to have improved in terms of top pay outs.
You could lend that umbrella to haejin, it looks like shit rain down for him. :D
