Some Words To Reward Pool Rapists!

Just because it is possible to do something, doesn't mean it is also right to do something

Especially in a free system like Steemit it is very important to be aware about the responsibility you carry as someone who can influence the whole system. I have seen many minnows and newbies who are more idealistic and questioning their own behaviour, than you reward pool rapists do.

We discuss about scammers so much here. About minnows using paid voting bots etc.

But the real system abuse happens on top. As a friend of mine often says:

Shit rolls downhill!

And of corse, I am not talking about all whales here. It only needs some to influence the reward pool. It only needs some to be a bad example for the whole community and to poison the whole atmosphere around here!

Call me a socialist. I just call it:

I want fair play!

And people who are aware about their doings in relation to the community

Earning money here and also powering down are normal processes. But doing this by self upvotes or voting yourself up with another of your accounts just isn't a good example for good community behaviour. You shit on behaviour? Tells a lot about your character.

When the community would benefit more from you leaving it than from you staying in it, something is going wrong

It is your decision what you do with the power you have. With your Steem Power. Sooner or later the community will become aware about wether you are using it mainly for yourself or for the community. They just have to take a look into your wallet.

I am not pointing fingers at anyone. Of corse you can flag this post. And show the community that you know it is you, I am talking about. You are aware that we all are scared of being flagged. We will see the flag more often in the future because of behaviour like yours. So flag! I will get used to it.

Just remember:

It will be on the blockchain forever! ;-)

I tend to stay away from all that nonsense if I can.

It is unfortunate that some of the big players are bending the platform to benefit them.

I am just grateful for Steemit.

We have a good community overall, and this is only the beginning of a beautiful thing.

I also wanted to stay away from it. But it just became clearer and clearer to me, how poisonous this behaviour is. We have so many people on Steemit earning almost nothing for hard work. And then we also have "them". And we have many people that aren't even aware that this problem exists. I cant't do much about it. But at least I can try to raise my voice a little.

Great post thank you. I'm a newbie who's only just started noticing bots everywhere and wasn't sure whether paying for up votes was accepted practice. I've seen plenty of people advertising their page as an up vote or resteem site for some sbd and wasn't sure how I felt about it. But now I'm feeling reassured. Thanks again! Love Lali xx

I don't like bots. There are even flagging-bots around. I also don't upvote myself. BUT: as long as even whales aren't acting any different... Take a look on @minnowsupport! I think they are quite reliable and serious. And by the way: I am here since december and still trying to find out how I feel about the WHOLE thing!^^

I am happily signed up to minnow support thank you! What would be your number one advice for a newbie?

:-) Hmm... not easy to find an answer. Don't give up, enjoy the community, not thinking about money so much. Curate... give thoughtful comments on other person's posts, that will bring some friends and followers. And don't lose your head! ^^

@brainnipper (49) much like the rest of society the greatest abuse happens at the top emoji skyscraper airplane those with wealth and power wield their influence in ways that benefit Their own interests Emoji sack full of money and I suppose in a way it's natural that when others see them succeeding by these methods that they think these methods are the only way to succeed emoji seesaw monkey once one has entered down the rabbit hole of behavior Behavior becomes habitual and is much more difficult to change emoji stack of nuts and a squirrel

I appreciate that you raise your voice about the reward pool abuse and stand up against this issue.

You're right about the real abuse is happening at the top.

Unfortunately, the problem is not about morals. The problem is the way the algorithm is designed. And unless the algorithm is updated, the problem will stay.

In the current version of the algorithm, the whales have to get involved in such abuse. Otherwise, they are going to lose money, because if they don't do it, someone else will do it.

The current version of the algorithm isn't sustainable on the long term. I hope that the developers of Steemit see this and update the algorithm.

In either case, thank you for raising awareness about this issue.

Thank you!! I guess there are some things that have to be improved to make Steemit work for this fast growing community. I really hope they are aware and find a way.

Actually, the solution is really simple, but we need to make some noise about it to make the developers see it. I have already written a few posts about the solution.

Strange. You are actually the second person today, telling me that there can be simple tech solutions to major issues here. You know I don't have a clue about tech.

In algorithms, changing a single sign can make a huge impact on the results. This is exactly what’s going on here. This problem can be solved with a simple tweak. Can you connect me with the other tech person? Who were they? Do they have any posts about the issue?

It was actually someone who commented on another post. And he has someone in his discord group who said this. So I can't really connect you, sry.

No problem, @brainnipper. I reached out to @biophil and he returned my comment. He explained to me that the formula I mention is already changed.

According to the new formula, it's impossible to make profit from reward pool abuse. Some people seem to profit on the surface, but it is guaranteed that others are losing money in the same scheme. I've written a detailed post about it.

In either case, thank you for raising awareness about this issue and if you have any questions or comments about this issue, please feel free to reach out to me.

I plan to publish more posts about this issue so that people can learn that these votes do not guarantee profits.

Cool! Thank You! I think these topics need to be discussed very open in the community. It would be great having some kind of news feed, that informs us about what is going on in some developments. Maybe one where we can chose a certain topic and see the most important and relevant posts about it. Organized a bit more detailed. It's sometimes not easy to get news here. It's all running so fast. :-)

I guess the fact that you resteemed baejis post about the “Update on your favorite raward pool rapist” means that you wanted to support him? Am I right?
I also don’t like how much haejin is taking from the pool, so don’t get me wrong but I think this baejin guy is also raping the pool in some way. It’s good that he wants to show people here on steemit how much haejin earns with his posts so that everyone can think about this and form an own opinion.
But nobody needs a daily update about this. Especially not if these posts were upvoted by... you guessed it bots!
That’s why I was actually pretty happy to see @haejin downvoting all of his following posts but not the original one to zero.
When I see haejins and berniesanders behavior here and there sometimes it’s pretty confusing and very hard for me to form an opinion about some of those much criticized guys.
But I also down track every of their posts because my time is too valuable for that. So, sorry if might miss some very important topics. But you’re welcome to let me know about them.

I also try to find an opinion. I think both show a behaviour that's not good for the community. Berniesanders isn't better in my opinion. Take a look in his wallet. He has more than one account and moves Steem Power and SBD between them and then uses these accounts to take it to Bittrex. Looks a bit strange to me since he plays the Sherrif so much. So my post was meant in a very general way. I really just think that people with lots of influence on the community should be aware about their responsibility. It's better to not look at that too much. It makes me sad and angry.
