Long weekend in Albuquerque
My family took a quick road trip over Memorial Day weekend to New Mexico. We love the Southwest and have been thinking about moving further west. The first city on our list to check out was Albuquerque. My only knowledge of the city up until our visit was from watching Breaking Bad. The reason it's on our list of places to move is because of it's location. I don't want to live too far from Texas because of Big Bend and family. It's about 8 hours away from Zion National Park, 5 hours to Colorado, and and would make San Diego and a doable road trip. We hear a lot of discouraging things about crime in the ABQ but I felt safe and it reminded me a lot of San Antonio. We only had a couple of days but we made the most of them and had a lot of of fun. We saw several Breaking Bad filming locations, went to the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center, and Petroglyph National Monument. We also spent some time in Sante Fe and drove out to Bandelier National Monument. I loved the scenery and was overall very impressed with the area.

Java Joe's is a very cool local coffee shop. It was Tuco's hideout in breaking bad.
I had to check out Twisters which was Los Pollos Hermanos in Breaking Bad.
Indian Pueblo Cultural center.
View of ABQ from the top of the trail we hiked in Petroglyph National Monument. Oddly enough I can't find my photos of petroglyphs.
I really HAD to drive by Walter White's House. I did not attempt to throw a pizza on the roof.

My buddy did the Breaking Bad tour. I rode through there three weeks ago and wish I would've done the same. This same friend lived in Tucson, AZ and thought it was a great city with a low cost of living. Don't know if that's too far from Texas.
We found the locations on Roadtrippers. We didn't want to pay for the tour so my husband drove me around to ones I wanted to see. There were so many on the list. I have to go back for some Better Call Saul locations next time. Maybe I will add Tucson on my list of places to check out.
