This was a very nicely written post. It is interesting to see what other cultures eat for their special birthday meal. When I was younger besides cake, my birthday meal was usually bbq ribs. Now as I am older my birthday is really just another day and I don't do much special. I am not sure like you said about your friends that I could handle one of the century eggs.
