Photo Fun Contest - Week 21 – “Old & Abandoned”. Steam locomotive on the "Dead Road".

In 2008-2011 I worked on the banks of the river Taz in Krasnoselkupsky district. In the late 40s-early 50s of the last century in these places was the construction of the railway Salekhard-Igarka. Construction was carried out in very difficult conditions of the Far North mainly by convicts and after Stalin's death was closed. The official name of this construction site "Transpolar railway", the unofficial name - "Dead road". In the photo, the steam locomotive stood for more than half a century on an abandoned Dolgiy passage.

В 2008-2011 годах я работал на берегу реки Таз в Красноселькупском районе. В конце 40-х-начале 50-х годов прошлого века в этих местах шло строительство железной дороги Салехард-Игарка. Строительство велось в очень тяжелых условиях Крайнего Севера, в основном силами осужденных и после смерти Сталина было закрыто. Официальное название этой стройки - "Трансполярная магистраль", неофициальное - "Мертвая дорога". На фото паровоз, простоявший более полувека на заброшенном разъезде Долгий.
