zhu' Movie Review: Dead Poets Society (1989), Most People are Desperate in Peace and Only the Brave Heart is Alone.
"Dead Poets Society" was written by American playwright Tom Schulman and was screened in 1989. The film was directed by the famous director Peter Weir. This movie won four major awards including Oscar's Best film, Best actor, Best director, Best original script, and won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay of the year. The story of "Dead Poets Society" took place in the United States in 1959. In an calm middle school, an English teacher named John Keating influence his students with his unique philosophy of life and anti-conformity teaching methods, and began to learn from a group of students who were born rich and whose family prospects were clear. He skillfully taught students another way to experience life. He inspired them. Some brave students did not hesitate to rebuild the secret society which is dead poets society, Their main activity was to gather in a cave at night for literary practice. The comedy continued until Neil committed suicide by the tyrannical father. This incident aroused the blind repression of the school and Keating was driven away. But the new thought has taken root in the hearts of students.
This movie is neither Peter Weir's most perfect work nor his most esoteric film, but his popularity shows that he is good at touching the hearts of the audience. He does not deliberately show off skills and does not actively meet the market. Even if the final climax burst, it is still under control. This film gives people a beautiful free class. Although this film does not have the unexpected atmosphere of Peter's previous film, it still gives us a breakthrough in the established cultural cognition, and reacts to the outside world and proposes a new idea, from the beginning to the end. Director Weir did not give up expressing his preference for a more tolerant society. The Keating teacher in the film was played by the famous comedian Robin Williams. He is a very special actor. He is good at funny performances. Although he is a performer known for his comedy, Robin Williams always has a little warmth and humanity in his interpretation.

In "Dead Poets Society", he played this wonderful performance of John Keating. Because the teacher is incompatible with the people around him and the environment and atmosphere of the school, his lively character and closed the conflict between the old schools is very intense. So Robin Williams' exaggerated performance is characterized by the rationality and logical correctness of the characters, thus forming a huge drama tension. The whole film is full of tension, poetry and passion. This is a wonderful alternative style film, and a delightful film of anti-traditional education. The wise clue of this film makes us always interested in the plot. The real theme of "Dead Poets Society" is creativity. The film itself is a passionate poem. The author uses a pure film language to describe the story of freedom, life and old order.
In the film, the ideal and the reality are contradictory. The anti-traditional education method that the director tries to portray can make the students find themselves in confusion, awaken the soul in the dark, and find hope in life. The contrast between traditional closure and youthful vitality in the film reveals a spiritual symbol and ideal pursuit of "Dead Poets Society". Throughout this film, it is not a giant system in the traditional sense, but it is a very strong imprint of the director's inner non-compliance with rigid institutions and ideological migration. As can be seen from the name of the film, the basic theme in Weir's film is always accompanied by the risk of life. In this film, the director tries to break through the bondage and re-seek the origin of human inner feelings and desires. Under the lens, the viewers see a magical world, constantly looking for the foundation of civilization, the rationality of things and the meaning of teaching and education. These are the biggest meanings and values of this film.
