Let’s Watch with Travelgirl #17 - Tiger Mom Blues | 親親我好媽

Parenting is not an easy job and there is really no right or wrong. There are also terms like Tiger Mums or Helicopter Mums where some use on mums to describe a certain trait. In this series, Tiger Mom Blues, it shows who a mum who is super strict with a set of rules that needs to be followed at home by the family. Staring Elena Kong playing the mum Natalie, she has a typical husband/dad played named Yim by Ben Wong and 2 daughters, the drama is writing around Elena’s parent style.

Parenting is a sensitive topic for mums so this series actually hit the spot for most topic raised. Under the influence of her own strict mum, Natalie grew up picking up the things her mum have asked her to do. As a stay at home mum means she has more time to oversee what her girls are doing, check their schedule, check all their homework, have high expectations academically as well as activities outside of school. He husband Yim was a more laid back father and the daughters prefer to share their thoughts and secrets with him over Natalie.

Apart from the girls who have had enough for their mum, Yim was also a bit fed up and have started to stay away from many things. The arguments have has with Natalie was not getting results and will just damage their relationship. This is when he found a person who was willing to listen and talk through the troubles with him.

Natalie’s mum comes back into their lives and this continues to bother Natalie although she has unconsciously been mirroring her actions to her own daughters. Their relationship also open up to a can of worms - how will this be resolved?

As a parent, I loved this series. It shows the real side of many parents and as a parent with young children, it makes you think if you are doing the right thing and how would your kids think of you now and in the future. Will the way you raised them affecting them long term and they pass it onto their kids. Although Elena who played the lead actress role does not have kids of her own, she has made a huge effort to play this role well. She is one of my favourite actresses and being able to see her as a character out of her comfort zone is great. The husband played by Ben also doesn’t have his own kids in real life and also played his role magnificently. If you want to watch something a bit different, this series is highly recommended for you.

大家好，做父母真是不容易. ‘親親我好媽’ 是一套關於教育( 尤其是在香港), 怪獸家長等等的家庭和社會問題. 江美儀演媽咪角色而黃智賢就扮演好老公，好爸爸. 他們有兩個女兒但兩個都比媽咪管的很嚴格. 江美儀角色是一個虎媽，什麼樣的要知道，什麼都要管，大家都沒有自由. 因為這個原因，兩個女比較喜歡跟他們爸爸聊天，講秘密. 但原來爸爸也覺得很累，對他的老婆的做法很不認同, 甚至有點討厭這個家所以在這個時間認識了一個新朋友就慢慢由年頭想離開這個家. 這套電視劇好清楚描述到很多家庭的問題尤其是對子女教育方面很多東西要兼顧.
