El editor del New York Times instó al presidente Donald Trump a no continuar tildando a los reporteros de "enemigos del pueblo", diciendo que podría "llevar a la violencia" contra los medios.
AG Sulzberger hizo públicos los detalles de su reunión extraoficial después de que Trump tuiteara al respecto.
En su tweet inicial, el presidente dijo que había sido una reunión "muy buena".
Pero luego acusó a los medios de poner en riesgo la vida de las personas a través de sus informes.
Su primer tweet decía: "Pasé mucho tiempo hablando sobre la gran cantidad de noticias falsas que transmiten los medios y sobre cómo Fake News se transformó en una frase, 'Enemigo de la gente'. ¡Triste!"
No se refirió a su propio uso repetido de la frase.
The New York Times luego publicó su declaración , diciendo que había decidido "responder a la caracterización de la conversación del presidente".
