True happiness is when you can accept yourself for every little thing you pretend you are. Maybe. We are taught from a young age that to be happy is to "follow" all the concepts laid out before us. I just recently turned 40 and let me tell you something I have learned, just about every idea of happiness I ever ate with that splintering dirty spoon tastes like shit. I also learned that for the most part the people spreading this rumor of happiness are the most unhappy people. Think about the person on Facebook posting about their online business and you see this strained dedication and feverish belief that the product will work. But that person lives in a rundown trailer and drives an unregistered Buick. But they believe they will be rich because after all were we not taught that if we believe something it will happen. I believe I am Batman yet Alfred is still late for work. In fact he has never shown. Belief is simply immaterial wishing at its best. You can't believe you're happy. You don't believe you're sad...all things being equal. I think firstly we need to stop attempting to define what happy is. For me, I have decided I will collect small doses and be grateful instead of looking for the big one. Today it will be my dinner that I am preparing which will be wonderful. No, I'm not telling you what it is. It's my little private food coma. That's today's idea of happiness.
