Five Months Ago: Cancer Diagnosis
Five months ago today my husband received a cancer diagnosis and it changed every part of our life.
Stage 4 NSCLC with spread to lymph nodes and brain. While the Oncologist was very pessimistic we decided to include an integrated approach and make a decision to use every tool we can to change his odds.
Some of you have followed along.
After 10 whole-brain radiation treatments and 11 weeks of Chemo, Joe's Pet Scans came back nearly clear. There were a few dim spots. The emotionless Oncologist was actually excited about the results.
The MRI for the brain came back clear! The radiologist was notably excited and thought the results were extraordinary.
Currently on immunotherapy, 1 off label drug, and about 25 supplements. As well as a low carb clean diet. The immunotherapy is delivered intravenously at a Cancer clinic every 3rd week. Which is a huge improvement from the weekly chemo that made him feel worse every single week.
5 months ago when this all started he was feeling a lack of energy and a swollen lymph node was causing a lot of pain.
That painful lump is gone, he is skinny and weak still and the first patch of hair is returning in the oddest place on the back of his head. Recovery is moving slowly, but it's there.
He is unable to return to work yet, both due to his weight and also Covid.
As Spring is near we are planning a physical plan to help his body become strong again, as it was a really long hard winter with Covid lockdowns, Cancer Treatments, and a huge amount of stress.
Western Medical doctors think cancer will come back at some point, but we are hopeful and will continue to use the naturopath's protocol.
Now we are not in a circle of running from one appointment to the next, our next steps are to establish a new healthy routine. Not as easy as it sounds in winter, in WA state during Covid lockdowns.
So many of you offered amazing support and I really appreciated it. Thank you all for those thoughts and prayers and keep them coming for continued healing
He will have scans again in March until then we are in healing mode, if he can gain some weight and build some strength back I will take a temporary sigh of relief
Thank you again to all those who followed along and sent well wishes.
This is really happy, because you made me happy this evening. I love such positive news. Greetings, you are a veteran.

It's good to hear that your hubby is beating this thing...
Best wishes to both of you.
It's so great to hear these positive reports about Joe's progress! I know these have been anxious and traumatic months for your guys... hopefully his appetite is returning, so he can build some strength.
I starting to see some improvement in eating, so hopefully, that will turn to weight soon.
Kombucha may be something you should research online. You can also produce Kombucha yourself at home
I wish you both all the best... heads up!!!
Good to hear of positive progress.
I am really happy, because you wrote a very nice post in fact you are an experienced.
