St. Aloysius Gonzaga -The Prince amidst the Plague.
He feasted with kings, the Marquis to be
A face adored by damsels and dames
He cared not for name or fame
The prince who roared in the battle ground
Oh dear Aloysius Gonzaga!
A plague broke out in the cradle of Rome
But that couldn’t faze our patron so brave
He clothed and fed the victims of doom
The prince whose eyes was opened to grief
Oh dear Aloysius Gonzaga!
He prepared them well for the Eucharist
A surplus feast of flesh and blood
Of the God who died for a world so cruel
The prince who left his throne to serve
Oh dear Aloysius Gonzaga!
Nay, it wasn’t sticks or stones
That broke neither his spirit nor soul
‘twas a soul that needed a healing touch
The prince whose heart was made of gold
Oh dear Aloysius Gonzaga!
And so came the hour, when he breathed his last
He held in his hands a crucifix
And bid the world a farewell too sad
The prince who died with a cross in his hands
Oh dear Aloysius Gonzaga!
And today he lives in the hearts of many
A miracle among miracles the one who enkindles
A burning fire in the souls of the universal youth
The prince whose name shall never be forgotten
Oh dear Aloysius Gonzaga!
