Dolphin? Increasing my STEEM investment by clearing out a crappy Satoshi faucet
Exciting times to be on the STEEM blockchain!
A couple of days I finally lost all my trust of one satoshi crypto faucet and cleared it out.
The detailed story is below but long story short, I used the most of the tokens from that "endeavor" to power up my account here and...
PART I
Am I Dolphin investor now?
I didn't find, from the top of my head, a photo of mine of a dolphin, so here is a wild duck instead :) I captured that awesome moment at Plitvice park in Croatia, during a photo-travel in the country.
Two milestones achieved yesterday by powering up.
- It appears at the moment I am one of the top 1000 STEEM investors, at position #940 today:
- I am now over, of what appears to be a special number of SP for Steemit, 5000 SP in particular.
Not sure if anything will change for me, but still, it feels nice knowing I am one of the top 1000 investors here, given there are hundreds of thousands, if not millions of accounts on the STEEM blockchain.
PART II
Increasing my STEEM investment by clearing out a crappy Satoshi faucet
The faucet in question is bitco.in
I am not going to share a link as I strongly believe everyone should avoid it, and if not scam, it is definitely crap.
It might have been a bitcoin faucet many years ago, but today it is Satoshi faucet, as that is what it "gives", satoshis.
Of course, nothing is free, the basic idea is it profits by selling your captcha-metadata and accepting gambling, we all know, here, the bank always wins.
I am not the gambling type but they advertise, and keep advertising, a "Premium" level, where players who keep certain amounts of the "FUN" token are given certain roulette spins with extra rewards. Titled "Wheel of Fortune"
Well, Fortune is no more with them!
I've held 50k FUN tokens for more than an year, and should've received 10 WoF per day.
Unfortunately, that didn't happen.
So I contacted their support by email in July 2024.
Here is their reponse:
"... it is being investigated with high priority ..."
So I waited...
...
...
Months have passed.
No further response, no WoF!
So in December 2024, a half an year after my first email, I queried them again.
Here's the second response:
"... At this time, I am unable to provide a specific time frame for when this will be resolved. However, I remain committed to advocating on your behalf to ensure the matter is addressed as swiftly as possible.
To help us manage responses more effectively and reduce delays, I kindly request that you refrain from sending multiple emails regarding this issue ..."
Can you imagine this?
My trust completely vanished but since my FUN tokens were staked, I had to wait until February 2025 so they are all unstaked and sent to Binance.
It took about a couple of hours for the transfer to happen.
I didn't convert FUN to STEEM at a good price.
When Bitcoin first hit $100k and ETH its ATH, FUN was trading above $0.005. Lately it is gravitating around $0.002. I guess I am not the only one who abandons this sinking project.
Moreover, lately there are so many technical issues and downtime that I was concerned about those assets.
Still, it was a nice jab to my STEEM account :)
PART III
Was it worth it?
I used this faucet almost on a daily basis for a little less than 3 years.
So apart from those FUN tokens I acquired on the same platform, worth about $180 at the time of the conversion, I also gained:
I used the "SLOW" option to minimize gas fees.
It took the transfer two days to be confirmed.
So after the transfer fees, this at the moment equals to about $70.
So the total for those almost 3 years would be $250. FUN & BTC
Is it worth it? Totally and absolutely not!
My friendly advice, don't waste your time or money there.
