We call these Lizards locally as "Butiki", at least in my local language that is because we have many dialects here in my country which is an archipelago or group of islands, heck even the village after our village has their own unique accent which is deeper than the accent of my Mother's home province south of my province.

Anyway, these house lizards are commonly seen here in the houses, they are almost everywhere. They are a good part of the environment because they eat insects like Mosquitoes especially when Termites in their mounds would seasonally break-out with wings, then these house lizards would feast on them.

The house lizards by the way is an opportunistic creatures because if your food is left uncovered, the will get on it and help themselves. But once they see outside movement like you turn on the lights or enter the room, they will notice you and run away. They are shy creatures and is afraid of bigger creatures like people. They do not bite and even if they do, the will not cause a danger because they are small.

If you try to get a hold of them they will detach their tails which would jerk around as if it another creature, it is a nature's mechanism for them to take away the attention of the attacker so that they can scoot away in a safe place if the attention of the predator or attacker goes to the detached wiggling tail. Afterwards this lizards will grow back their tails.

Not all house lizards like this one has the same dark color as many has a lighter color. Maybe this one's mother is just around dirty walls so it begets dark-colored offspring. But even though they have light colors, you can still notice them although most of the time they are just ignored and left to stay and do their own things because they cannot be eliminated and it is pointless to do so because it is believed to be not good to kill them as it would result in bad luck.

I was once fascinated by them when I was younger because these lizards would sometimes create a "Tsk-tsk-tsk" sound and you could not determine where that peculiar sound was coming from except when they are doing it, they are tapping their tails on the walls or ceilings. Its one of their ways of interacting to other house lizard and I think it is equivalent of either courting another house lizard or a territorial disputes if not a mating call or even a warning to other house lizard entering their turf.

Now they call a Lizard that walks "Runs" on water as "Jesus Lizard", now what do you call that walks on ceilings and walls?

It's nice to know, but we have a specific name for it locally while in the other-hand the other bigger lizard which can be found outside we call "Tuko" which is a Gecko and make the same sound as its name.😀👍

The bigger one outside we call them agama lizard, I live in west Africa and you will commonly see this types of lizards around houses, for the wall gecko it can be poisonous if it enters your food or soups and their poos are harmful also, but they have their own importance in the house because they get rid of insects on the walls, and they are always at the side of the house that has bright lights, sometimes you can’t completely eradicate them because they tend to deliver new offsprings. We just find a way to be careful with them most times but they seem very harmless.

It is a hagedis a reptile. They are often confused with the salamander an amphibian.

We have 4 species one without legs whichooks like a snake. snakes evolved from the lizards (hagedissen) so family.

This is the muurhagedis (wall lizard). I don't see them often and if more outside than inside. Can be they are on the attic. They better eat a bit faster especially in Spring and during the Summer.

It sounds as if the animals show up for a photoshoot 😁

I have at least two of these house lizards in my room and sometimes I would see one catching a bug, they control the bug population in my room and maybe without them some spiders will soon live there around the ceilings.

Other lizards are in the wild like I always see many years ago in the dried-up irrigation canal of the former rice fields where they would show-up and then hide fast when they see people coming or going near where they are, they are bigger and they look slimy with greenish tone color of skin or scales. "Timbubuli" or "Bubuli" is what they are locally called but they are ignored.👇

The other one was the monitor Lizard, if you hunt them in the wild by trapping you can catch them that way but they are rarely seen and if they are seen they are hunted because they are eaten here and made into a "Beer dish" by drunkards. 😋👌

It's beautiful ans sooo green. Sometimes I see them fled in the grass but it feels there are fewer just like the black snakes we had years ago.

I have spiders and leave during spring and summer the webs at the frontdoor as well but they are useless. I rarely see them catch anything.
Bte, I saw cats outside catch lizards 🤔

That one's green but I saw other Timbubulis with hues of of almost reddish or gold hues, I also think that these creatures eat bugs and other small animals and contribute to the balance in nature.

If you can remember, the former leader of China Mao Zedong said that every sparrow robs the country (Communist China) of their rice. So he ordered the people to hunt for every house sparrow that they can find. Little that they all knew that sparrows eats insects. The sparrow which in the other hand helps to protect the rice stalks from the damaging insects went very low in population because there are so many Chinese people hunting them.

The result was the insect population that damages the rice stalks grew in population and it caused famine in China at that time of the rule of Mao Zedong because it caused a failed rice crops.

That is why I see these little creatures to be a very important part of our world. But the world now is a big imbalance because most of the creatures that eat insects now are lesser in population which is why if you cultivate a fruiting tree, they will not fare from the damage of invading insects.

That is why farmers have to use insecticides when growing or farming fruits because if they don't they will not have much crops to harvest but the population of people that will be consuming the said crops will suffer from ailments caused by insecticide residues considering that we all believe that we need to consume fruits frequently.

But a quality but not a big size piece apple here in my place costs $1.55, I was just shocked about its cost which is also why I am just using Moringa powder as my daily source of fiber and vitamin plus I can be free from getting cancer from the insecticides used in fruits we can see in the grocery stores and roadside/mobile fruit vendors.

Thank you for your time Miss @wakeupkitty 😀👍

I remember how the sparrows were caught and there were petitions and suddenly laws to remove the nets they were caught with. We have plenty of them and pigeons who damage a lot and now the rats increase in the city because of the trash of fast food restaurants thrown on the streets.
There are many examples where people interfere. I know about lakes in Germany where they did whatever they did in the understanding to save flora and fauna and next all fish died and the entire ecosystem is screwed up and the problem isn't solved after many years. Humans always claim to know better but the truth is we lost contact with nature and always say this or that is the best based on nothing.
All those scientific studies only say what the scientist wants to hear. And what the government or media wants to hear is spread as news and if the opposite is true then no attention is paid to it. I wonder if the sparrows are used to all the poison. Maybe because they live shorter that they do not have all the diseases that humans suffer from?

How is Sara-Sara?
I have mentioned you a few times to participate in a photo contest on Steemit or do you not feel like it? If not that is also fine. How is your day/weekend so far?

Fruit is also ridiculously expensive here and I haven't really bought it for years because it looks bad. Also everything is old for a few years. I think it's the apples and pears that have been in cold stores for years. I have tried to make applesauce and apple pie from it but that is also becoming increasingly difficult because the apples are tasteless and some are still not cooked to a pulp after an hour of cooking. Because most fruit is imported it is also tasteless. It is unripe when it arrives here and it doesn't really ripen in the cold and without sun.
Instead of fruit you can also eat nuts or seeds, people used to say, but now it turns out that many of them are also bad, just like oil from seeds and kernels. It feels like nothing can be eaten anymore and I sometimes wonder if it's all true.
For a long time there was a trend to eat everything raw because that was supposedly healthy. I don't believe it because plants are hard to digest and humans are not herbivores, not rabbits, cows or deer so it is impossible to digest all that and get enough vitamins. It has to be cooked or ground for digestibility so in that respect you are better off with the pills you make than with that ridiculously expensive apple that hardly contains any vitamin C.
By the way, there are vegetables and fruits that contain much more vitamin C than an apple and apple is also an acid and that is bad for the enamel of the teeth (if you then consider that it is always said that you should eat an apple because it is healthy... it has all been promotion of the apple.).
Red pepper has much more vitamin C and also seaweed and for example kiwi although it is not really measurable and it also depends on the country where it comes from and the soil on which it is grown and the amount of sun will also make a big difference to the nutritional value and not to forget the taste.
I wish you a nice weekend!

Human activities and interference had changed our world a lot leading to some species of animals to get if not extinct, invaded places of the world where they should not be there.

For example, the introduction of the fish called "Janitor fish" had made the population of our native freshwater fishes dwindle as these non-native fish eats their eggs and it is a very big issues because our freshwater fishes tastes delicious and now they are hard to come-by for us to buy and enjoy.

However, people are learning to eat the ugly Janitor fish because it seems that they taste good too if prepared well enough like cooking the meat with coconut cream after broiling the whole fish in fire to make it easy to access the meat because it has a very tough scales. So I guess that in this case of invasion of non-native species of fish, if you can't beat them, eat them. 😄👌

I also think that if big corporations are involved in ruining our environment, then we are just helpless to do any difference to change or fight it because of power and money that these entities have, they can do what they want for their business's sake.

That is why we now have tasteless tomatoes and fruits that are bland like what you said with the apples which I happen not to prefer to buy because if they are not bland and expensive, they are sweet and very expensive. I also control my Potassium intake because it is always high and it is not good as my heart might stop beating if it will remain high. That is why I do not buy fruits now for that reason and just using Moringa powder for my basic or essential micronutrient needs. It worked great because it improved my red blood cells and hemoglobin count. 😀👍

Also, I remember you inviting me with that contest, I said to myself I will join it but days had passed and I failed to do it. I will do some photos of Sara-sara one of these days if I happen to stay at the backyard again and tell mother to fetch her for me for a photoshoot.

Anyway, I just use vitamin capsules rathe than source it from vegetables and fruits because I will surely overdose in Potassium if I will eat more of the natural source. Then again the natural sources now are laced with pesticide residues and that is also one reason why I am not buying fruits except Mangoes which I now eat lesser than before. I also like to eat it with rice and allows me to consume more rice for my daily calorie requirement which I happen not to fulfill because of my physical capacity and less than ideal appetite to eat.

Happy weekend to you Miss @wakeupkitty 😀👍🌹🌹🌹

Thank you for your time and God bless you always. 🧡
