Para esta edición les traemos como invitado a Akseli Gallen-Kallela:

Este distinguido artista plástico nació el 26 de abril de 1865 en Pori (Finlandia). Cuando tenía 11 años su padre lo envió a Helsinki para que estudiara gramática, y se olvidara de la pintura. Sin embargo, a raíz de la muerte de su padre, en el año 1879, Akseli abandó la escuela de gramática y se inscribió en la Sociedad Finlandesa de Arte para estudiar dibujo.

En el año 1884 viajó a París para formarse en la Académie Julian.

En el año 1890 contrajo nupcias con Mary Slöör. Del matrimonio nacieron tres hijos. Pero no todo fue felicidad para la pareja, ya que en el año 1895 falleció su hija Impi Marjatta, de diftería.

A raíz de la muerte de su pequeña hija, las obras de Gallen-Kallela trataron el tema de la muerte.

Akseli participó de varios movimientos artísticos: romanticismo, simbolismo y nacionalismo romántico.

Falleció el 7 de marzo de 1931, a los 65 años, en Estocolmo (Suecia).

This distinguished plastic artist was born on April 26, 1865 in Pori (Finland). When he was 11 years old, his father sent him to Helsinki to study grammar and forget about painting. However, following the death of his father in 1879, Akseli left grammar school and enrolled in the Finnish Art Society to study drawing.

In 1884 he travelled to Paris to study at the Académie Julian.

In 1890 he married Mary Slöör. The marriage produced three children. But not everything was happy for the couple, as in 1895 their daughter Impi Marjatta died of diphtheria.

Following the death of his young daughter, Gallen-Kallela's works dealt with the theme of death.

Akseli participated in several artistic movements: romanticism, symbolism and romantic nationalism.

He died on 7 March 1931, at the age of 65, in Stockholm (Sweden).

For this edition, we have selected the following works so that you can choose the one you like best to write about. The first is titled Swan above left (1897), the second, The Fratricide, (1897) and the third Old Woman and Cat (1885).
