Utopian should remove votes on invalid contributions

in #utopian-io7 years ago

Recently I found a few contributions that were voted even though they were accepeted due to moderation mistakes. Their votes weren't removed. One of those contribution was a three line post which got 30$ vote.

We have much better contributions that don't even get half that value. So, Utopian as a community should not allow these contributions to get votes and if they get voted mistakenly, the votes should be removed.

Why is this important?

If people can get votes on invalid contributions then this will encourage abusers to do it more to try getting votes by trying to fool the mods. Removing votes in invalid contributions will discourage such behaviour. So, I think this serves the best interests of Utopian community.

Your contribution cannot be approved because it does not follow the Utopian Rules. This post does not bring a new feature/enhancement for the project.

The votes can only be removed manually when it is found out that the mistake was made, and the only person who can do that is elear. Your post is therefore aimed towards him and not the Utopian in general. And even in that case, it has been decided that removing votes is not a likeable option since it drains more VP.

You should suggest this in the next Utopian biweekly or the following Poll.

You can contact us on Discord.

A significant portion of Utopian's adminstrative access is upto @elear and there is no current rule about what to do about mistakenly voted posts. And the suggestion is about how Utopian bot behaves and its actions are releated to the whole Utopian project. Who controls it is not perticularly relevant.

The feature this contribution is suggesting is about how utopian manages its mistakes and therefore I would consider that an enhancement to the project not a specific request to how @elear behaves.

I told you the way you present it is not a suggestion meeting the rules. This matter is for discussion during the BIWEEKLY where you can propose new changes in votes policy. And since elear is the only one who can vote on behalf of Utopian, this will affect his behaviour.

Vote removal is nothing new, it just has not been done.

You may be wrong with the statement about VP drainage when removing a vote but it doesn't change my decision.

Removing votes drain VP?

Yes, they are. They are actually valid vote operations with a zero weight.

Just re-checked it seems it doesn't drain VP if the weight is 0.

Yeah, I might have seen a shabbily arranged post getting huge amount on utopian... Guys please consider this suggestion.

i am checking mostly of your post but i did,t get how can i post on utopian-io. What sort of post is valid for utopian-io . can i post programming tutorial of C and C++ on utopian-io. i did,t post anything until now with utopian-io. i afraid that i can get spam by using irrelevant tag. so help me.

It needs to be about a open source project. Tutorial about c and c++ will be rejected. Lets talk about that on https://discord.gg/ypYrHZ

i,ll chat on it later i,m getting late now i have to go university to attend lectures. thanks for help

i agree with your statement

This is a good point. If spammers realize that they could get $30 by posting spam from Utopian, then we'll be seeing hundreds of thousands of these unless we take action to stop this right away. It's good that you keep an eye of for these types of things, @littleboy!

I agree with these points but it's up to @elear and the rest of the moderators to convene and come to a consensus on it :)

Perhaps it could be presented as another Utopian poll!

Thanks for the swift reply!~ This would be a great topic to cover, I think 3 lines of text is not worth that kind of payout. Hopefully things can come to a resolution c:
