One of Baguio City's destination can be found at Mirador Hill and here you can find the Bamboo and Rock Garden.

Oh yes.  That's me in the photo above standing in front of the tori-i and bell.  We'll get there in a minute.  Let's me show you first the Mirador Hill Bamboo and Rock Garden here in Baguio City.  Thanks to @dswigle, this is my #MarketFriday entry.

If you want to know more about what #MarketFriday is all about, head on to @dswigle's latest post What to do on Market Friday? check out the rules.  Market Friday is all about the market and anything you spent some money on.

For my entry, it's about Mirador Hill Bamboo and Rock Garden trip.

Let me take you back to 2021 particularly February when restrictions in the city were just starting to ease up after a long time of lockdowns brought about by pandemic.

At that time, the gardens at Mirador Hill just recently opened.  Entrance fee then was PHP50.00 person.  You can choose where to start your walk going to the tori-i.  You can either start at the Bamboo Garden or you can go directly to the Rock Garden which is above the Bamboo Garden.

Of course we wanted to explore everything so we decided to go down the Bamboo Grove trail.  This is smaller compared to the one that was in Pacdal, another bamboo forest here in the city.  At the start of the trail is this miniature house on stilts all made of bamboo.

This is just a short trail shaped like an S then it exits right away to the start of the Rock Garden.

If I'm not mistaken, there are at least two varieties of bamboos here.  A tip though.  If you decided to visit this place, make sure to use repellant and/or wear something to protect you from mosquitoes.  Good thing I have a jacket at that time.  I was anticipating the cold then because it was afternoon when we went there.  Sure you'll work out a sweat once you climb up the Rock Garden but passing through the Bamboo Garden, you'll be attacked by mosquitoes.

So now let's start our ascent to the Rock Gardens.

This is a longer hike up to the top.  The view from there are the neighboring houses and as you go higher, the mountains beyond.  Along the way are plants scattered here and there.  Some were freshly planted/replanted.

While some trees are growing, these are mostly on one side of the garden and at the higher part.

There I was on top of that rock.

There are different paths once you reach the top but all are interconnected anyway.  You can choose to end your tour here and head to the entrance/exit or you can choose to continue on and go to where the tori-i and bell are located.

Here there are benches and other sitting areas where you can rest and enjoy the view.

There are more plants here and mostly are flowering plants.  Here are just some of the flowers that I captured.

We don't want to miss #alwaysaflower for #MarketFriday.

Once we are rested, we then head on to the real purpose of our visit - the tori-i and bell.  This was actually the reason why we visited this place but was surprised to find that there are gardens too which was a delight.  At least these make your visit even more worthwhile.

We were also hoping to witness a sunset here.  The first post I saw in social media about this place was captured during a wonderful sunset that's why the photos were stunning to look at.  However, luck was not on our side that time.  Fog started to set in really fast.

This spot is a perfect place for sunset viewing on a good day.

The structure in the background is the retreat house which is not open to the public.

when we were there, this place was not yet finished.  There were still improvements being done.  More gardens were being set up and more viewing areas.

Because there was nothing else to see and rain started to fall, we then exited the place.  At the exit, there is a cafe that we were interested to try but it was closed at that time.  Maybe next time we will dine there.

You can choose to walk down the steps of Lourdes Grotto or follow the road and exiting to where you came in.

Along the way I managed to capture these.

So there goes my first visit to Mirador Hill Bamboo and Rock Garden located in Baguio City.  From the city, you can choose to ride a jeepney bound to Lourdes/Dominican Hill and the terminal is located at the market or you can choose to ride a taxi.  For private cars, Waze and Google Maps will surely be of help.

Here's a screenshot from pinmapple where Mirador Heritage and Eco Park is located.
