The Chinese New Year or Spring Festival is a 15 day long traditional celebration.

A time for new beginnings, and shopping, shopping shopping!

Looking for your favorite foods is a fun and festive experience this time of year.

No matter what culture, candy and the holiday's go hand in hand.

The stores are filled with many sweets to choose from, each one is certain to bring a smile.

Red lanterns line the streets of Taiwan.  You can hear loud firecrackers and fireworks, as the celebration fills the air with sounds of excitement.

Decorating for good luck and a good future.

The character “Fu”, means good fortune or happiness.

You can take part of the fun and write the words yourself, in the old ancient Chinese tradition, or you can buy decorations already printed.

Dumplings represent the reunion of family.

Made with flour and stuffed with different delicious fillings.

Dumplings are also eaten to bring wealth in the coming year.  Their shape resembles the Yuanbao, a kind of money used in ancient times.

Dumplings sweet or spicy are the most popular food eaten on the Eve of the New Year.

Any day is a good day to eat Taiwan's famous Oyster omelets!
