The "Manguers de lard" were the early Canadian Voyageurs.... the very 1st people who arrived in Canada and joined with the local Anishinabek people in an attempt to discover Turtle Island (North America)

The term "Mangeurs de Lard" literally means "Bacon Eaters". .... since their diet consisted mainly of salted pork and beans.
