SWEET POTATO PRODUCTION

Sweet potato (Ipomea batata) is a dicotyledonous plant that belongs to the family Convolvulaceae.Its large,starchy,sweet tasting tuberous roots.
The young leaves and shoots are sometimes eaten as greens.Of the approximately 50 genera and more than 1,000 species of Convolvulaceae,I.batatas is the only crop plant of major importance . PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Maximum yield of sweet potato is achievef under a temperature not less than 20C with a well distributed rainfall of 5-126cm.The ideal soil for sweet potato is a well drained sand- loam.The crop does not require quantities of humus(organic matter)
