Shutdown of steem.rocks
When I joined Steem 6 months ago, there was not a good interface to learn what's happening with your account. And I had been curious with the blockchain, therefore I have created steem.rocks. Today, it's lifetime came to an end.
Reasons
- Operational costs (Both time and money.)
All operations are indexed to a MySQL database in the background. This requires a good amount of processing power and resources.
- Unstable public nodes
steem.rocks needs a private node to catch-up with the chain and respond fast. Public nodes are unstable, private nodes are expensive. I almost switch the nodes every day to keep the site going and it's not sustainable for me.
Alternatives
Busy.org introduced both "activity feed" and "notifications" features recently.
steem.supply gives a good insight about potential rewards.
steemreports reports in/out delegations.
steemian.info lists top400 witnesses.
steemworld gives great information about your account.
Open Source
I shut down the hosting but the code is still open-source. You can investigate the code, or host your own version.
Special thanks to @favcau, @crokkon, @isnochys for the code contributions to the project.
:( I miss it. It gave me my 100% vote value if I was at 100% power.
smart man, makes smart moves. i know you would have worked it all out regards time etc ;) some code should expire right? :) but nice to know the code is there and open source :)
I really used it a lot. Thank you for your work :)
Thanks for your contribution to the Steemit community
👍
Oh, I'm so sorry... it has a so nice, all in one and complete interface!
Congratulations for having made it @emrebeyler... who knows that someone has the opportunity to host it?
P.s.: I voted for you as a witness, as you suggested me via wallet.
While I didn't use it all the time, I found myself visiting at least once a weak thanks to some of advantages of rocks. That's really unfortunate. Thank you for hosting it for so long though!
I am crying right now that was my one and only info center :(
try the alternatives. :)
Oh, it's unfortunate, but in my opinion you tried your best and your efforts will pay off in one or other way, and i hope and wish that you will get success in your future projects. Keep doing the great work and and wishing you an great day. Stay blessed. 🙂
Please don't forget the great steemworld.org in your list of alternatives ;)
done. 🤓
Thank you for the work and time you've given into steem.rocks over the past few months, it is (or was, in this case) a "go-to" site for any somewhat intermediate Steemit user.
I hope someone who can cover the costs can host the site again, under a different name; Thanks to Open Source.
