Practicing worship for children
Friends, admins and all moderators of the beloved community. Some time ago in order to welcome the holy month of Ramadan. Children in our school, especially the upper classes, namely classes 4, 5 and 6, we began to teach and practice various kinds of worship, so that the children's knowledge of how to carry out worship is more solid. This activity is of course guided specifically by the teacher who teaches Islamic religious subjects at our school. However, other teachers including me also participated in guiding the children's worship practices at our school, which took place a few days ago.
This worship practice activity aims to introduce the correct way of worship to the children in our school. Because with Islamic religious education lessons lasting 4 hours a week, of course it is not enough for religious teachers to guide this practical activity. However, several hours of other subjects are also involved, in order to provide good and correct understanding to children, especially in terms of daily worship practices.
The practice of worship that we apply to the upper class children in our school is starting from performing ablution properly. Because generally children often ignore the correct things in terms of ablution, especially they do it just to finish.
Furthermore, we also teach about how to dress and cover the genitals properly when about to perform prayer. Of course, we specifically apply and practice this activity to female students only. Because in terms of covering the genitals in performing prayer, there are also many mistakes made, both adults and especially children.
The next worship that we had time to practice yesterday was the implementation of congregational prayer, which is a basic worship for Muslims wherever they are. Moreover, this congregational prayer will be routinely carried out, on the nights of the coming month of Ramadan, namely the tarawih prayer.
Regarding other worship that we practice is to deepen the knowledge and memorization of children regarding the reading of Asmaul Husna. Because the reading of Asmaul Husna is a basic routine in the early morning, which we usually do on Thursday and Saturday mornings.
This activity was carried out because of the efforts made by the principal and all teachers of SD Negeri 2 Nisam, in terms of providing a better understanding to children regarding the procedures for good and correct worship. This activity was also followed enthusiastically by all the students at our school, where the practice took place in a class, namely class 5A, because considering the unavailability of a prayer room in our school, let alone an Elementary School where the government does not provide a special place of worship considering the study schedule which does not even pass the time for the Dhuhur prayer.
