Yes The Money Matters Here, And So Does The Quality And Creativity
So you might have noticed that the popularity of the steemit site has a direct correlation with the price of steem. In crypto the value needs to come first before the product. Yes it is backwards but people in this space go where the coins are doing well. Which is why I am happy to see a good pump yesterday even if it corrected today. At the end of the day people are here to make money.
Now I 100% agree that quality and creativity need to encouraged here and if you are going to be in the arts you do need to like what you do. But that being said the money is really important if this site is going to take off. Yes I personally would like to make enough here so I could focus on my arts but it is not just about my bank account.
When it comes to any site being successful, the site must excel in what it promises to do. Twitter, because of the 140 character limit, is great for news and quick updates. Instagram, which is great for photos, is a place for models and photographers. Facebook was the site that connects you and people meet up with old friends on it. Each site has its speciality that makes it stand out from the others. Yes it is not the only factor for a sites success but being able to brand as the site that does ________ and that does better than any other site makes the site a choice for people who are looking for ________.
This brings me to steemit. The main selling point for steemit is get paid for your content. This means people need to get paid decently for the site to be able to stand out as the site that rewards content creators. This does not mean people need to get rich overnight, content creating is hard work. But if people can see that the site is paying and that those who are putting in the effort are doing well here then we can compete with Facebook and the other giants.
That being said we can easily do it with this site. With cryptocurrency combined with other funding models we can really get money in the content creators hands.
Yeah it would be nice to get some more talented people on the platform, but I'd rather have 10 people that aren't as creative or talented that sill stick with Steem for the long term because they believe in the platform.
Otherwise any people that join are doing so because of the person they follow and will leave just as quick.
Great work, @whatageek. I just can't agree more with this post.
