How is Artificial Intelligence going to change society over the next decade?

It is hard to say. The only thing we know is that the systems being built are getting more powerful. As computing power increases along with the radical growth in data, this is leaving us with a situation where the entire world of business is going to be changed.

For example, let us ponder for a moment what it will be like to have digital avatars. Think that is far-fetched? It is being worked on right now and a digital reproduction of a person is now possible. The scary thing is they will only get better as the years go by. The following video shows this concept as it is being implemented now (along with some other technoligical advancements).

Imagine for a moment what the earning potential of Will I Am is when he is able to create an exact digital replication of himself. We already see holographic concerts of Roy Orbison and other artists who are long dead. This only takes that one step further.

Consider for a moment the possibility of a Will I Am nationwide tour taking place in one night. Instead of duplicating himself once, he could do it 100 times. Book the venues and let the avatar entertain the fans. After all, it is all of Will I Am's mannerisms and language.

What would this do to someone like Tony Robbins? He could charge a few dollars for a coaching session yet have them available 24/7. Due to AI advancements, he is able to capture all that he produced over the decades and compile them into a single source. Thus, if he created avatars of himself, he could be counseling thousands of people each moment of the day, all while he is off doing something else.

Think this is too radical? It is something he is working on and set to bring to market, in his hopes, within a year.

Obviously, the cloning of people, either biologically or digitally, brings up a lot of philosophical questions. At the top of the list is "what does it mean to be human". Those debates are outside the scope of this article. What we can say is the ability to use AI to increase massive amounts of growth is on its way.

Let us use another example. Using Steve Jobs, a CEO who died way too young. What would Apple look like if he was still running the company? Would it be possible for his avatar to remain in place even after he passed on?

At the moment, this is probably out the reach of what AI can do. That said, give it a few years and it might be able to do that. If the system could learn the decision making process that a guy like Jobs utilized, it could mirror the pattern forever. One advantage a digital system could have is that it never does.

The flip side to this is a dangerous tyrant could also remain in power. This would not be good for humanity, at least the population in that country. I do not think an eternity of Castro would excite most Cubans.

Avatars humanize AI. This is a big problem that people have with it right now. Our feelings for a computer or a robot simply are not there. However, if it is a face of someone we know, things are on a completely different level.

I still stand by my assessment that, within 15 years, we will see a 10x of global GDP. The money that is going to be generated as our productivity moons is going to be amazing. These few examples show the enormous impact a couple of people duplicating their efforts can yield.

As we end 2019 and, thus, the 2010s, I am seeing a lot of forecasts about what is going to take place over the next decade. Life in 2030 is a question on everyone's mind as we reach a numerical point that most are comfortable with (we seem to like those years that end in 0 and 5).

Basically, even if they are wrong by a factor of 75%, we will be living in a world that is completely different from today. With all the advancements that are presently taking place, the economic future is going to be enormous. Productivity is going to expand by an very large factor, perhaps like we never say before. This is something for all to keep in mind.

Being at the beginning stages of this, on so many different levels, means that we are primed to witness the explosion. There is also the prospect of profiting from it also. As we see more of these technologies come online, they will become more prevalent while coming down in cost. This means that, likely by the end of the next decade, it will be possible for everyone to have an avatar. What will this mean to your income?
