Godliness means conforming to the laws and wishes of God. It is living a godlike life. Apostle Paul tells us this kind of life is possible only by the Grace of God.

Titus 2:11-13 King James Version (KJV)
11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ.

Being Godly is one who has obtained salvation from sin and lives a life of godliness;that is,God's kind of life by his grace.
The question now is what distinguishes you from the ungodly.

a) CONDUCT;Live a righteous,upright ,holy life and a blameless life.

b)CONCERN;Let your concern be about the glory and kingdom of God and not the fashion and things of this world.

c)COMPASSION; reach out to help others in need ,have the heart of love and compassion for others in need,let it not be only yourself you care about.

d)CONFIDENCE; Walk in Faith even in those times when you cannot see the fulfillment of the promises of God.such a strong unwavering faith and confidence in God is a mark of godliness. The bible says in Hebrew 11 vs 6 "without Faith it is impossible to please the lord".

e)COMMUNION; True spirituality is having an intimate relationship with God,God created us to fellowship with him. His word tells us that many who do wonders in christ's name today will be rejected by him on the last day of judgement. Then,he will say to them ' i never knew you ,depart from me,ye that work iniquity"(Matthew 7 vs 23).These people don't work in close communion with God although they are very active in religious matters,even prophesying and casting out demons. The true sign of godliness is revealed in the close communion a person has with God.1 Timothy 4 vs 12 ........but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. This what you should be if you profess to be godly.Be a perfect example to all the people around you.

BEING GODLY IS A CHOICE
Life is all about choices,a a free moral agent, you voluntarily and deliberately choose either to be godly or ungodly. However,you must understand that choosing to be godly is the single most important and wise decision anybody can make.The choice you make determines your destiny.
Just as Daniel and his three hebrew friends;Shadrach,Meshach and Abednego were tempted to live in pleasure and worship idol in babylon,you will be tempted daily to abandon the life of godliness and follow the ways of this world.we live in a world where the majority of the people are 'Lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God. That is the choice they have made, a choice that has grave consequences,you can make your own choice today inn the midst of the overwhelming opposition.

Be different like Daniel was , in Daniel 1 vs 8 But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself. He defied the king's instruction and refused to defile himself with food that was the usual practice among the Heathens.His friends also refused to bow to idol,even when they were threatened by the king.

The choice you make in life defines who you are,if you choose to be on the Lord's side you are godly but if you choose to follow the multitude to do evil,then you are ungodly. In Deuteronomy 30 vs 5 See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil. You choose either either good or evil,you cannot sit on the fence,in verse 19 God counsels us to' choose life,that both thou and thy seed may live'.Beloved choose life,godliness,choose to be on the lord's side so that you will live in eternal bliss with him.

HOW DO YOU CHOOSE AND MAINTAIN A LIFE OF GODLINESS?
First,be born again,God grace brings salvation first and teaches us to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts.The bible says in

Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ.

Then meditate on God's word daily,obey it's precepts and observe its practices,be heavenly minded and shun the things of the world,associate with godly people and avoid evil associations,flee from all appearances of evil and constantly resist the devil and sincerely pray for Grace and strength to remain godly.
