My Ibiza's Monument | Competition - Monuments of my city 🗽
Helo everybody,
Ibiza, the place where I live, is world famous for its clubs and parties (there is much more to it than that, I assure you). What many people don't know is that the origin of this fame comes from the hippy movement that originated in the American city of San Francisco. From there, at the end of the 1960s, an influx of peace and free love advocates started, which travelled through Europe and had the Mediterranean island as an obligatory stop on its way to India. Most of them followed the planned route, but a few got caught up in the island's carefree atmosphere and good life, forming a stable group that dedicated itself to enjoying life while selling handicrafts and organising impromptu open-air parties on some of the then totally unspoilt beaches.
Four or five years ago, a well-known nightclub, which lived through the last throes of the movement, decided to pay a small tribute to those who brought a way of life that marked an era. This is the statue located at the entrance to the port of Ibiza town, which is seen by practically all the tourists and travellers who come to the island.
