Its so amazing to be here again and to be a part of this beautiful contest organised by @bright-obias. Thank you for giving us such opportunity to celebrate children with this platform.
So am here to write about the contest
" Happy universal children's day"
INTRODUCTION
Let me start by saying Happy birthday to me! 27 may is my birthday. I was born on the day set aside in Nigeria to celebrate children.
Knowing who a child is will help us properly digest the theme of this contest.
Who is a child?
In the context of this contest theme, a child is described as a young person that is below a particular age mapped out as maturity age, which usually 18years. So anyone below this age is seen as a child. A child still depends on other people like parents or guardian to meet their needs. A child needs the protection and care of grown ups to survive.
Children are gift to us and as such should be treated in a special way. Children lighten the atmosphere with their positive energy and vibes, bringing joy to everyone around them. Am glad i was once a child. And am still a child to my parents.
WHAT IS CHILDREN'S DAY ALL ABOUT?
Children's day is a special day and date, set aside by the governments in various countries to celebrate children in their countries. And in Nigeria where i come from the special day set aside is 27 may of every year!
Children's day is a day declared a national holiday in countries of the world. On this day schools organise special programs for their students as a way of celebrating them, such programs include match pass, games playing, interschool competitions etc. Children get excited about this day because they are giving a break from learning to having fun, playing around and resting.
Parents who have been so busy all through the year, not having time for their children have opportunity on that day to spend time with their children, take them out to parks or recreation centers because its a national holiday so they will be at home and not at work.
My nieces and nephew are always excited about childrens's day because they know, aunty Ruth(i @ruthjoe )will always send gift across to them.

So children day is also a day to show love to children by giving them lovely gifts. I remember my mum telling me about the day i was born, she said the hospital presented several gifts to me ranging from baby clothes, baby toys and baby bicycle just because u was born on that special day called children's day.
WHY IS CHILDREN'S DAY CELEBRATED UNIVERSALLY?
Children's been a national day is celebrated universally for several reasons, these reasons includes;
To encourage children to have an understanding among themselves, by interacting with their fellow children outside the walls of the school setting.
To spread to the public that children and their rights( welfare) are important in the society and should not be disregarded such rights include good education, care and attention.
Children's day is also celebrated universally to remember when the united nations decided to accept and incoporate the decoaration and convention of the rights of children.
HISTORY OF INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN'S DAY
Children's day celebration has history as far back as 1920 in turkey. And it was celebrated to observe the wellbeing of a child.
In 1925, Children's day was accepted in the world conference to be celebrated in Geneva(switzerland). Years later, Universal children's day was celebrated for the first time in the year 1955 October and this universal celebration was greatly sponsored by the international union for children's welfare.
WHAT I HAVE LEARNT FROM CHILDREN CLOSE TO ME
Children are amazing being,they are beautiful creatures with features that varies from child to child.
Personal i have learnt so much from children because i love them and i have a lot of them around me. My sister has 6 children, my eldest brother has 3 children while my immediate elder brother has 2 children. And each of this children have their own unique way they behave. But in all, i have learnt from them.
The following includes what i have learnt from children close to me;
- CURIOSITY :
What does curiosity mean? Curiosity means to always ask questions with the intention of knowing why things are the way it is or why things are not in a particular way.
Curiosity is the first thing i have learnt from children close to me. The picture above is a picture of one of the children close to me, he loves electronic gadgets like phones, television etc, likes to operate it and ask questions about it.
Learning to be curios from children has helped me learn how to make more research, because curiosity leads to research on my part. I am more curios than ever because i want to know more about things i don't know so i makes me go the extra mile researching about the subject or the thing i want to know.
- FORGIVES EASILY;
To forgive means to let go of offences, hurt and bad things done to you. So forgiving easily is a quick response of letting go.
forgiving easily is another thing i have learnt from children close to me. Guess what? Most adults dont forgive easily like children do and am not an exception to that. But staying around children has helped me alot.
Most times when my sisters kids and my brothers kids are playing together, one may get offended by the other and the next thing they begin to argue and even fight, everyone goes their seperate ways, the next 10mins, you see the same children who just finished arguing and fighting playing together again, not holding anything against themselves.
Learning how to forgive easily is an amazing quality as an adult. We offended and hurt by people and we never want to cross part with them. We hold it in our heart for years not letting go which is bad even for our health. So i have learnt from children that no matter what was done to me, i should forgive and move on.
- ALWAYS HAPPY;
Children are seen always happy not worrying about anything. They have this cheerful personality. They dont worry about what they will eat, they dont worry about what school fess or clothes or even accommodation. They are just an excited being.
So i learnt to always allow my self to be happy and feel happy no matter what am passing through, i always put a smile on my face. You can never catch me not smiling. Smiling and been happy makes me younger

BEST GIFT GIVEN TO KIDS ON CHILDREN'S DAY THAT WILL MAKE HIM/HER FEEL LOVED
Children love different things as gift on their special day. But children close to me prefer the following gifts and will make them feel loved.
- Gift of a Tv game
I noticed that all the male children close to me love tv games. For example one of my nephew, his mum always takes him to a game play station every sunday evening to go and play tv games. So getting him his own tv game will make him so happy and loved. It will also save the stress of his mum always taking him out. It will. Tv games is one of the top gifts he will like if given to him.
- Gift of story books
Children around me love stories, so given them story books as gift on their special day is lovely.
My niece whose name is Joyful loves to read story books, she can read story book to the point of forgetting she has not eating. Reading is exciting to her and buying her a story book will make her happy and feel loved.
- Gift of a puppy

Most children around me love puppy and always want to play with them. My neighbour breeds dogs for sale so from time to time they have puppies. I noticed that each time my nieces and nephews come around to visit my parents they always want to go and play with the puppies at my neighbours house. So getting them a puppy as a gift will be a great idea and i know they will love it.
CONCLUSION
Children are beautiful being, special in nature with amazing qualities. A lot of children today have lost a sense of belonging either due to their background or because they are orphans, Childrens day is one of the days those or if not the only time that these kids are reminded that they are a part of a family, society or country.
