Agricultural story #14

Greetings esteemed Steemians and farm lovers, it's my honour to be back with a fresh Agricultural story. As we know that Agriculture is the bedrock of man's Survival. It's because the foods he consumed mostly come from the farm and other processed products originate from the same location. My family is one that prioritizes farming and I don't know if it has anything to do with genes. Why I said so is that my grandparents also prioritized farming aside their usual job. Well, let's get into the details.

After the Charity program organized by @steemkidss and @worldsmile on a fateful day, I had a message from home requesting my presence. With that, I left because I knew that the intention was for planting cassava and maize on that day. When I reached home, we packed the necessary farm inputs and my dad drove us to the farm.

On arrival, we wasted no time than to get to the business of the day. For me, I was tasked with cassava stem cutting. As we all know, Cassava thrives from their stems during propagation. My siblings and my mum prepared the land for cultivation. My dad had to fetch the cassava stems from our farmland which was situated near the proposed land for planting.

Everyone did justice to their assigned duties. I finished mine on time and helped the other in preparing the land for cultivation. The time for cultivation draws closer as I was instructed to put in 3 stems per hole.

I made sure that I left no hole behind as I arranged the stems in the hole. The covering up process required precision as those at the borders needed to be laid in such a way that it won't disturb the neighboring land. The maize seeds were also put in their respective holes and covered up. The process of the whole planting took time that night fell on us.

With that, we finished the plot of land though it was dark when we concluded. After that experience, I learnt to respect farmers who work on multiple farmlands just for continuity of foods.
