My Neighborhood Watch #90 - Reporting Events Around us

Greetings my dear friends of Steemit and Steem4Nigeria

It's always exciting to make post in a community like Steem4Nigeria. Before I start I would like to invite two fellow Steemians @zulbahri and @chiagoziee to participate in the contest.

Khaibar pass was a connecting route between Pakistan and Afghanistan. It witnessed Greek culture in India and Buddhism in the opposite direction. In course of time it became part of the silk trade route.

In Bengali Khaibar means food so in the absence of physical importance of the pass. Bangali has their food extravaganza of food festivals by the name of pass as Khaibar Pass.

As the city is too big and food joints are spread over, it's not possible to hang out. So some event management groups organise The Food Festival at two locations of Kolkata every year. This year they selected the palace very close to the house at Barisha school ground for three days.

I visited the place last Saturday evening alone just to have a first hand experience. They took INR 20 ( 1.66 Steem) for entry fees.

The first stall I visited was PITHE BILASHI they presented sweet items which are homemade and normally not available in shops. They have a lot of fusion items combining very old sweets with fish. But there are many sweet items which used to be prepared at home were completely lost their flavour and test due to evolution. However I tried one Mug Pithe. I don't consider it as a food at all. However it cost me INR 50 (4.8 Steem). I don't think they have a parmanent Shop.

As the state is famous for many sweet makers from neighbouring districts like Hooghly and Nadia. Surjo Modak came from Chandanagar with Jal Bhara Sandesh. Felu Modak also came with many famous sweets more than 160 years old . Nowadays most of them mechaised their processes. Even they use machine from Italy to make modern sweets like sweetmeat /candy /savouries similar to swiss cakes.

There were stalls of Sarpuria and Sarbhaja from Krishnanagar and sweet curds from Nabadwip.

Thank you for reading my post.
