My matriculation/capping ceremony at Akwaibom state college of nursing sciences oron campus |

Good morning my fellow steemians. It's with great pleasure to share my diary game of my matriculation/capping ceremony at Akwaibom State college of nursing sciences oron campus. It was one of the most important days in my life where I took the nursing oath and was capped as a nurse officially.
On that beautiful day I woke up rather light hearted and started making preparations for the D-Day. After dressing up, I was set for the ceremony. The first in the order of event was the marching in of the matriculating students. It was a beautiful site as we marched and danced freestyles happily to our seats. The chairman proceeded in giving the opening speech followed by the provost and director of campus.
A welcome song was performed and other beautiful performances displayed. The program was ignited with some outstanding performances by the matriculating students who showed their prowess in knowledge. All thanks to the lecturers in charge. They contributed massively towards ensuring the presentations went well. It was the girl who spoke about the anatomy of the bone for me. Normally as student nurses, we're used to the big names in the system.
The young lady pronounced these words with no feeble and she named all the bones in the human body with the aid of a skeleton. After her presentation, informal presentations were made which includes the dance and the likes. The dance performance by the Igbo tribe and the dance performance by the Ibibio tribe. It was something worth seeing. My brother did all the capturing as he's good in that.

The dance performance of the Igbo and efik tribe was so outstanding and entertained the audience. @Rebeccamon was one of the Igbo dancers, she danced gracefully. As one of the matriculating students, I was honored to present a health talk on one of the most common chronic diseases rampant today which is Hypertension. In the video below, you'll see my friends and I discussing major health related diseases that tends to kill a lot of people today.
- Diabetes
- Hypertension
- Cancer
I deliberated extensively on hypertension as the bone of contention. I used my language to break the English meaning of these words as some attendees couldn't understand the big medical terms. Hypertension which is also called high blood pressure is one prevailing condition that leads to complications including death.
I enlightened the audience on the pathophysiology of hypertension in relation to renin angiotensin aldosterone system, the hormones and enzymes that work together in causing high blood pressure, the signs and symptoms of hypertension, the complications of hypertension and how everyone can manage and prevent the risk of having hypertension.
The audience was intrigued with my performance and I was given a standing ovation. Two members of the audience appreciated me with a token of 10,000 naira, I was delighted. After the presentations and performances by the students, it was time for oath taking. Oath taking is a symbol of dedication and loyalty to the nursing profession. The provost was an exceptional speaker. Her words were more than a motivation to us to thrive in our field of study as we are empowered to care and educated to heal.

After oath taking ,we proceeded to sing the nursing anthem which is one of my favorite things about the profession. You can check out the anthem on YouTube and enjoy the wordings of the song. Nurses indeed are great because without them, lives would be at stake. If you're a nurse out there, I want to tell you the you're great because of the sacrifices you've made to be where you are.
N - Neatness and Splendor
U - Understanding
R - Responsiveness
S - Selfless Service
I - Innovative and Initiative
N - Nobility
G - Gentleness and Love
I sang happily. After the nursing anthem it was time for capping proper this is the time when we will be officially capped as a nurse. The capping ceremony was successful. After the capping ceremony,my brother @bossj23 surprised me with a cake. The cake was so beautiful and was baked and decorated to symbolize nursing. I was really happy and thankful to him for coming to celebrate with me

I took a lot of pictures with my family, friends, colleagues and the likes. Taking pictures is important as it preserves good memories. Picture credit goes to @bossj23
@Ngoenyi handed me a gift wrapped in a beautiful piece which was from @fortwis09. I was surprised and didn't expect the gift from her but I was really happy for the surprise. Inside the gift was a beautiful note which she wrote for me. I couldn't hide my happiness.
