Exploration-s23w2 / Fire.
Thanks to @karianaporras for coming up with l
this contest, for Three days now it has been raining heavily in my place and that has made it so difficult for us to get dry wood and dry leaves but today I took it upon myself to partake in this week2 of engagement challenge.
This will be my first time of lighting fire without any form of paper, kerosene or fuel, so thank you because I have learned of this method and I will be making use of it.
Perform the literal Classification of the Firewood according to the instructions in this tutorial.
Task 1: this task 1 is all about Firewood after going through the tutorial instructions, I classified the firewood into the following categories:
Hardwoods: there are some examples of hardwood which are oak, maple, These types of firewood burn slower but it produces more heat.
Softwoods: there are some examples of softwoods which are pine, fir, these particular wood burn quickly but it's produces less heat.
Resinous woods: there are some examples of cedar, cypress, these woods produces a lot of smoke but it's sparks very well.
Dry woods: the dry wood burn very well and it will give you what you want and the best part is that it produces less smoke.
Green woods: These particular wood are the fresh woods which is not good for lighting fire, the worst thing is that it produce enough smoke and you can't even light it no matter the kind of energy you put in.
Build a fire or bonfire on a scale of no less than 30 centimeters in height, applying what you have learned in the classification of firewood and light it. As a challenge, I propose that you light it with a single match or whatever it is called in your town or country without using any type of accelerant or fuel.
In Task 2 is all about building and Lighting a Fire
In this task I was able to build a fire using the classified firewood, following these steps:
The first thing I did was that I gathered some materials which were firewood, tinder, kindling and a single match. Then I Prepared the area I will be using, I make sure that the place was safe and not a place that can cause flames and is very safe for creating fire frames. The next thing was that I build the fire pit created a fire ring using moulding blocks because my ground was wet. Then when I was done creating the pit I added tinder example dry leaves and dry grass and I added kindling, that is small sticks and branches, these will help the fire to catch very well without the use of fuel or kerosene. The next thing was that I added firewood which is the larger logs afterwards i Lit the fire using a single match to ignite the tinder.
Build two fires, these do not need to be lit, explain the step by step in detail and what practical use can we give them?
Task 3: Building Two Fires
I was able to build two fires, following these steps:
Fire 1: Teepee Fire
What I did was to gathered my materials which was about three to five long, thin branches. Then I prepared the area which I will be using and I cleared it and make it a safe space. I built the teepee structure by leaned the branches against each other. Then I added tinder and kindling and I filled the center of the teepee. And then the last but not the best I added firewood the larger logs around the teepee.
Fire 2: Log Cabin Fire
A Log Cabin Fire is a type of campfire structure that's similar to building a miniature log cabin. Here's a simple guide to build a Log Cabin Fire:
I gathered the materials I needed which was about four to six long, thin branches. Then I Prepared the area and I cleared a safe space that I will be comfortable. I build the log cabin structure by created a square shape with the branches. Then I added tinder and kindling and I filled the center of the log cabin. Then I added firewood the larger logs around the log cabin.
What did you think of the experience? What other types of fire do you know? What uses would you give to the types of fire in your daily life?
Task 4: Reflection and Additional Information
At this point I will say I enjoyed the experience of building and lighting the fires. I have learned about the importance of firewood classification, fire safety, and the different types of fires.
let's check out the Other types of fires I know so far.
Campfires: this is used for cooking and warmth while camping, maybe church program or a search and this is when there is no means of getting fire anyway.
Bonfires: this is a large fires that is used when ever you are celebrating or having an event.
- Fire pits: this one contained fires used for warmth and ambiance.
In my daily life, I would use these types of fires for:
As for Camping trips I will building a campfire for cooking and warmth.
Then for outdoor gatherings, I will building a bonfire for socializing and warmth.
And for backyard gatherings, I will use a fire pit for ambiance and warmth.
My experience was something else because everywhere was wet and it took me time to lit the fire but I was able to lit by putting on more effort.
I am inviting @ngoenyi, @ruthjeo and @goodybest to join in this contest
