SWEETPEA (2024) - Weirdly Fun Dark Comedy
I just finished watching Sweetpea, and I have to say—it was great! The show delivered exactly what I signed up for: a mix of thrill and fun, keeping things interesting from start to finish. With its smooth pacing and engaging story, it was easy to get hooked.
Well I really haven't seen many TV series so far, but almost everything I've seen up to this day have been excellent.
The story goes like, A very underseen neglected shy girl that lives alone with her father gets sort of triggered with her father's death, and goes on a killing spree. Its shown to mostly from her perspective, making us root for her.
One of the biggest standouts for me was the lead actress, Rhiannon. Portrayed by Ella Purnell, She was cute, and her big eyes? Weirdly funny—but in a way that made her character even more memorable. She played her role really well, bringing the perfect balance of charm and edge to the story. She wasn’t just there to look innocent; she carried the role with confidence, making her both likable and unpredictable.
The supporting cast also did a great job. Each character had their own distinct presence, adding depth to the story. The interactions between Rhiannon and the other characters felt natural and sometimes even darkly amusing. Whether they were helping her or standing in her way, every role added something meaningful to the series.
If I remember correctly, the show had about seven episodes, and every single one of them was solid. There were no filler moments—each episode had a purpose and kept the story moving. The flow of the series was really good, making it easy to keep watching without feeling like it dragged at any point.
Overall, Sweetpea was a fun and satisfying watch. It wasn’t groundbreaking, but it didn’t need to be. It did what it set out to do, and it did it well. My rating? A solid 4 out of 5.
Thrill and fun sounds interesting as a combination. Will give this series a shot. Thanks for sharing!
