Understand More About Steem Pong

in Steem SEA3 days ago (edited)

As a Steem Pong enthusiast and third place finisher at the Steem Retro Cup, I wanted to share what I understand and what I do to achieve high scores. Yes, I realize that my score is not the highest, but I have a good qualification to give an idea of how a workable playstyle can be.

Duration of Play

Some of the opinions I've heard from some users are that they don't get enjoyment because the playing time is too short. I have to answer this is indeed a short game so if you want to play it for a long time then it's about how long you can maintain the 10 lives you have. And one thing to remember too is that it's about getting higher and higher scores, the challenges will never end unless you decide to give up your time depending on your skills.

Getting the Score

For me, the rules of playing Steem Pong are very simple with only two buttons (⬅️➡️ on a PC) to try to reach or control the incoming cyan ball. I have explained in the previous short review about the points earned when hitting the ball with the Steem logo (4 points), the Time Foundation logo (6 points) and the colors of the Italian flag (6 points), what I would like to add is that there is one point for reaching the ball and 10 points when the opponent fails to bounce the ball.

Score changes that occur during the game

Failure to Reach the Ball

The initial mistake is to assume that 10 lives means many opportunities, which is not entirely true, because in fact when losing 1 life there is a risk of losing another life in the near future, it could be 2 or 3. In this case, luck plays a big role in minimizing losses.

Try to bounce the ball off the center of the barrier, although this may not always be possible

An effective way to keep the loss of life is, of course, to maintain the stability of the ball's bounce, so as not to cause a troublesome counterattack. If the ball that we bounce is not well-directed then the bounce from the other side will be difficult to predict the direction, and most likely lives will be lost. The strategy I use is to reach the ball as much as possible in the center of the barrier, so that the bounce of the ball is not wild.

Scheme of ball bounce after losing life

Then, what if you don't get the ball, because sometimes what we plan doesn't go as we want, especially the longer the ball flows faster and faster. As soon as you lose the ball, there is the potential for you to lose the ball afterwards when the ball comes automatically from the center of the table into the defense area. In this situation, you need to shift the barrier in the direction of the ball's bounce as quickly as possible.

How to grab the ball that comes after losing a life

The movement of the ball can be to the right or left, therefore instinct also plays a role, although the pattern of the ball's bounce is the same (the ball will bounce in 1/3 of the table area), it would be great if we can maintain a position in the center of the table, but luck also takes part in choosing to go right or left.

Perhaps this is what is called a life and death gamble, keep moving, keep focusing and never let your guard down.

Never played it before? Hopefully what I have explained is a provision of knowledge so that you start playing. The more challengers there are, the more the competition will heat up. Get your name on the score table and win the prizes in Steem Retrogames

Isn't it worth 10 for this great information? @aneukpineung78 @wakeupkitty

Thanks for the great review, I think you hit all the most important points to enlight.
About the match duration, as you said, it's not always so short, I played games of over 5 minutes, it all depends of how much time you're able to keep the ball in the field on the first phases, when it's slow enough.
I hope you will go on having fun with the game and please stay tuned because we're thinking about a great Steem Pong event.

See you soon!

 yesterday

In the early phase is an important time to accumulate scores, I tend not to care about the positions of the target balls, because they will disappear and then appear in another position, I focus on keeping the flow of movement of the cyan ball stable.

I'm looking forward to the great Steem Pong event, guess what, maybe a one-on-one tournament between players?

I will not say this is your best review since that's the one you wrote for steematlas but this is better than the other one. I found it fascinating to read, although I tries and let some others try with the same PC and they all said the same that it's hard, if not impossible, to move fast enough. A PC issue? or keyboard one?

BTW I like the pictures with the "drawings" on it.

You are addicted, aren't you?

 yesterday

Yes, in Steem Atlas I review many variables in one object, of course the discussion is more detailed, while here I only highlight how it works. In this game, indeed, the flow of the ball will get faster and faster, which requires high concentration, which ends until the last ball fails to reach. I think there is certainly an influence with the device we use to play, a laptop with great specifications for gaming will be very helpful, while I only use an Acer A314-32-C09W.

So, am I really addicted? I don't think so, because I haven't played again for 3 days.
