The status of the Indus River Dolphin (Platanista gangetica minor) as an animal Only the Indus River in Pakistan. So the endangered animal of my country is Indus River Dolphin. It is also among the world most endangered species. Many areas of the Indus River and its branches were home to these dolphins in the past. However they have a very limited population currently. The majority of them reside in a tiny region in Sindh between the Sukkur and Guddu Barrages. Only 1800 Indus River Dolphins remain today while conservation efforts are gradually bringing them back into the wild.

Reasons for Environmental and Habitat Changes: Changes in the Indus River the dolphin's home are the primary cause of its endangered status. Big barrages and dams constructed for The river has been split up into distinct sections by electricity and irrigation. As a result the dolphins are unable to travel freely in search of food and partners. Dolphins and their food sources are also harmed by pollution from cities farms and factories as well as by the river's declining water level. Dolphins can occasionally become stuck in irrigation canals and become unable to return to the river which leads to their death. Although the dolphins have had a difficult time surviving as a result of these changes they are now regarded as a symbol of Pakistan's nature because they are unique to that country.

Legal Protection and Status: Pakistan has legislation protecting the Indus River Dolphin to prevent hunting and damage. It is prohibited by the Sindh Wildlife Protection Ordinance of 1972 to kill capture or exchange these dolphins. Those who violate this law risk penalties or maybe jail time. Because the dolphin is recognized as an endangered species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) . It is also protected worldwide.

Furthermore the World Wide Fund for Nature Pakistan (WWF-Pakistan) collaborates with local people. The government to rescue dolphins stuck in canals and raise awareness about the importance of preserving the river and its fauna. The number of dolphins in the Indus River is gradually increasing as a result of these efforts. However more needs to be done to ensure that the river has enough water manage irrigation canals and lessen water pollution. In addition to benefiting Pakistan ecology protecting this dolphin demonstrates the nation's obligation to its distinctive creatures.
