Contest: The Most Protected Animal #21 In Ukraine - Iphiclides podalirius

Thinking and trying to remember all the times when I met rare, protected animals I first thought about the zoo, which I visited many times with my children but then I remembered one wonderful day when I was able to enjoy communication with such an animal a tiny and very rare creature, and I had no doubts, this was what I needed.

Today as part of the Contest: Protected animals in my country #21 organized by @steem.ofanimals, I suggest getting to know the butterfly Iphiclides podalirius or as it is also called the swallowtail which was included in the pages of the Red Book of Ukraine as a rare endangered species of animals or in this case insects.

One day on the way to fishing, I saw from the car a flowering meadow on a steep hillside and decided to make a stop there and look for something interesting for photographs and I was not mistaken large butterflies from the Papilionidae family fluttered over the flowers and such a sight can be seen rarely.

The wings of the butterflies were perfect there was no damage and I concluded that these butterflies had emerged from their chrysalis quite recently and this was one of their first flights.

These are large butterflies and they attract the attention of not only people but also birds, which often if they do not eat the butterfly will damage its wings.

In theory no one except birds can harm these butterflies, and the Red Book says that cutting down forests and bushes as well as the use of pesticides when cultivating land by people can greatly harm the already small population of these creatures.

It is also said that the flight of these butterflies does not happen every year there are breaks, and I was there at the right time and in the right place to capture these beautiful butterflies.

I was lucky enough to take a lot of photos but yes I had to run after these butterflies up a steep hill and I was pretty tired but the joy of this meeting was stronger than any fatigue.
